One of my favorite composers. He did good work for Armodyne but it wasn't as inspired as Xenogears/Chrono. Also, he composed a couple of magnificent tracks for Shadow Hearts.

His work on the Chronos and Xenogears are definitely some of the best game soundtracks out there. Xenogears may be in fact my favorite soundtrack (that or FF6, can't decide).

The "SM" (Son May?) label gives it away! My first copy of the Chrono Cross OST was from them, bought it from the local mall around the year 2000, from a store that was selling bootleg anime & game merch. unknownst to myself and many at the time. When a classmate cracked my set(a lot of classmates wanted to use music from the game for their AV projects), he brought me a new set from AnimeNation, but this time it was from Digicube. Sure enough the new copy was the legit version.

So it tickles me when people unknowingly post a bootleg's cover like that. ^_-

Chrono Cross was the first soundtrack I ever imported (I think I was 11 or 12?). I saved up several allowances and bought the sucker because I loved the OST so much. :3

I remember when I bought an Ever Anime CD when I was younger. The packaging is so strange (read: cheap)... It was this, actually. I felt silly when I realized it was a bootleg years later.

From Radical Dreamers: Day of Summer Under the Moonlight Dang, that means Mitsuda was in his early twenties when he was working on Chrono Trigger. Grateful for this man's talents.

It's the musical predecessor to Chrono Cross, and a lot of the motifs in RD show up in CC, so it's an interesting relic. I was going to mention some of my favorite tracks. The Xenogears and CT OSTs were the first I ever bought. I had to mail order them out of the back of a magazine back in the 90s. Good stuff. I always really liked the music in the first Xenosaga, too.

My favs would probably be Dazil, Grahf, Sea & Fire, and the Miracle. Couldn't disagree more about the weak battle themes comment.

I remember back in the C64 and Amiga days, there were tons of amateur composers who would put out some amazing chiptunes as part of the 'demo scene' - they couldn't possibly have been out of their teens at the time. Wonder if any of them went on to become successful professionals in the vein of Mr. Mitsuda?
