Lauren Laverne is on 6Music and she's on a bit of a funk/soul kick today. It absolutely is a real Friday to me :)
On that note, if people are fans of the radio what are everyone's favourites? 6Music is generally a good choice no matter the day. Zane Lowe on BBC1 also really does it for me. Basically anything where the DJ knows their music and doesn't just play solely mainstream stuff. Oh, and BBC Four for the afternoon play. Because secretly I'm an elderly woman at heart.

Kisstory (History) on Kiss101(South Wales and Bristol) - an hour of old school dance and RnB, fantastic.
Just started, playing 'Garage Girls', and now 'billy jean'. Zane Lowe on Radio 1, met him once too. Absolute 80s DAB station. |

You have awful taste. Donner kebabs are the best thing in the world but only if you're drunk.
I used to be similar, but I started to realise that I value musical variety so I rarely listen to my own music anymore, unless a particular album or track has gotten stuck in my head or I'm in a very specific mood. |

Daytime radio vs daytime TV. Both are on the same level of atrociousness, just slightly different.

For the record I do actually quite like Greg James and Scott Mills but the music that they get told to play is normally chart shite. But they are still very funny.

There's no irony in my enjoyment of Jeremy Kyle. I just like seeing people that make me feel better about myself. Also his Christmas specials make me cry.

You need to distance yourself from your subjects more. Learn to judge people based off first impressions. See nothing but their flaws and laugh at them.

My problem with Jeremy Kyle is that, A; the 'guests' aren't dragged outside and shot afterwards, and B; I don't think the program makes anything better, it just glorifies dysfunction.
It depresses me. It's a constant reminder of how fucked up and hopeless our underclass are. We need to fix these people, not give them a freak-show to perform on. |

I've never known a British kebabery to make a decent doner wrap. The salad in most is horribly plain, the meat is bad and the tortilla bread is seen as a delicacy compared to the standard pita. You average Brit kebab shop is good for drunken gorges only.
Belgian and Dutch doner wraps are proper, a huge selection of salad and sauces and really nice tender meat. |

I'm seeing an all-green salad (and not prime bits of lettuce, by the looks of things) in some form of sauce wrapped in a wholewheat tortilla. Why should I be especially craving that thing? |

If you find 45 minutes to spare, listen to this album: ![]() The Prodigy Present: The Dirt Chamber Sessions (Vol 1). It's a mix of about 50-60 tunes that Liam Howlett (of The Prodigy) feels influenced his music. It's just a fucking killer mix and easily my favourite album of all time. Blaze up, give it a spin, see what you think. |

The only bit of radio I usually listen to is Radio 6 as my alarm clock. I listen to it more for Shaun Keaveny banter than the music they play which, in my opinion, is usually forgettable guff.

Good man. It really is a great showcase for the immense talents of Mr Howlett. There's one 45-60 second burst in the middle of the album that follows the sample 'Let me give you an example of how a DJ works:' and it causes me to utterly lose my shit. The guy is a genius.

If you want to feel less depressed there's always Jeremy Kyle USA which has gun shootings and stuffs. It's also really interesting from a sociological point of view how different the show is tonally, from the intro music, to Jeremy's mannerisms and even the way the set is dressed.
Also, can I put in the argument that Spotify is the biggest legal change to music consumption ever? I never really felt the impact everyone claims iTunes and mp3 purchasing had - people still bought CDs. But "listen to what you want whenever" is huge.

Everything has to be such a production in the States, though. I discovered here (and most of Britpop, really) thanks to the comic Phonogram. Even if her accent has become slightly more BBC-friendly as time has gone by, it's still recognisable. Love it. |

How about practical questions on the citizenship test such as:

Wiccan and the like are no more barmy than any other religion. I masturbate to Dawkin's books and roll my eyes at religious people but I'd never say to someone "you can't believe that". |

Man you have no idea how disappointed I was by Turkish cuisine. Exciting things like having their stews cooked in clay pots which they break open right in front of you and it all smelt delicious but in the end it all tasted so bland.
I made a real point of going to as many different restaurants in different locations, too. But there was this one place which just cooked by smoke grill fish they'd freshly caught that day and it was delicious. Best fish I've ever had. I wouldn't have called it specifically-Turkish cuisine, though. Just good old-fashioned decent cooking. And their cakes are horrific. It's like they don't use sugar so there's no sweetness to anything. |

With a little bit of fine print underneath that said "The British government supports your right to draw or not draw an image of the prophet Mohammed as per your beliefs or lack thereof, just don't be an insufferable dickhead about it." edit - Oh damn Dave I just got to the bit in Track 4 where they go "kick it!" and that bit from the Matrix lobby fight comes in and it's fucking delicious.
