Here's a new band to keep your eye out for. The Dropsteppers from Minneapolis released their debut album Get Up In It! this past September. Definitely worth a listen.

Judging from the comments, I'm sure a ton of Five Iron fans have left the church over the past 10 years. However, the fact that we all still love this band nonetheless is testament to what a great thing they've got going.

I really got into Five Iron Fenzy's Our Newest Album Ever!, but I never took the time to listen to their other albums besides a song here and there for some reason. I think I'm going to listen to the rest of their stuff today.

Negros Vivos. Probably the most important ska band in Puerto Rico, have been going strong since the early 90's. Seeing them live is awesome, the energy and vibe on their shows is off the hook! Have a listen, and I bet you will like what you hear, even though you might not understand the lyrics. :)

I love this thread. I've largely grown out of the loop with more current happenings, but this thread is a great reminder that a lot of bands are still going strong or have merged together to form even better bands.

I wonder what Big D is up to these days. As far as 3rd wave goes, I don't find their stuff to be terrible. Last album I heard from them was them ditching the doo-wop singers and the whole "stroll" genre. That was weird.

I was out of the loop for a few years myself. The past year or two though I've been trying to keep up and hear all the new and old stuff I've missed over the years. You definitely have to put in some work to find all the great music out there. It's so worth it though when you find a new band to love. I'll make another post of new bands/albums to check out sometime today.

I only found out about these guys a few months ago, but I've been absolutely loving this band. Please tell me these guys are still making music and have another album coming out. Next time I play through Red Dead Redemption I'm using this album for the custom soundtrack.

Prince Fatty Meets The Mutant Hifi in 'Return of Gringo!' is the fevered and frontal lobe-damaged brainchild of Nick Coplowe (The Mutant Hifi) and Mike Pelanconi (Prince Fatty), the result of years of plotting, planning, laughing and procrastinating. Put simply, it is a surf/ska/spaghetti western soundtrack album for a film that is yet to be made. Think Dick Dale jamming with the Skatalites with Morricone at the helm, including appearances from Alessandro Alessandroni (the original spaghetti western whistler) and you're in the right section at the record store, although it is possibly a very small section.

The Expanders began playing reggae music together in the summer of 2003, and today are one of the most respected and hardest working reggae bands in Southern California. The One Droppers - The Big One

A long time ago my guitar instructor showed me some Ska by a band whose name used something like "Neighbors" in their title. This must have been back in '03 or so, if that helps.

Checking this out right now. I've been meaning to listen to this album since I saw it on Spotify a while ago. Definitely more punk than what I usually like in my ska these days, but it's not bad at all. The second song sounds A LOT like a Less Then Jake song. Even the horns have that LTJ sound.

Nothing wrong with RBF. They did the whole rock star/party ska thing perfectly. Their live shows are really great too.

To make one more band suggestion. Every ska fan should listen to The Moon Invaders. Their newest album "The Fine Line" came out last year and I just can't get enough of it. Check it out.

Just wanted to share The JB Conspiracy's newest EP "The Calm" that came out this year. I'm not really into to much ska/punk these days, but this EP is awesome. Best new ska/punk stuff I've heard in a long time. If these 4 songs are anything to go by, the album is going to be awesome. It's long overdue too since JB's last release was in 2007.

My experiences actually mirror your own; I listened to them constantly while growing up. However, I'm not sure that the possibility of another Five Iron Frenzy album evokes anything except sentimentality from me. I have no interest in actually listening to them again. I was going to joke that Five Iron Frenzy probably all became atheists after they broke up, but I see that some of the members actually have left the church.
