EDIT: Oh, it's because GNV FLA was the last album they released. Makes sense!

They did release a new album last/earlier this year that was two EP combined called Greetings and Salutations. It's damn good, so check it out!

That's awesome. It's been many years since I've seen RBF, but from what I hear they still put on a damn good show. Awesome energy and they sound great.

Mrs. Skannatto is definitely more rock/ska/punk, while The Scorceses album is more like the Prog Rock style of RxB's Mandala album, but with horns.

Haha oops quoted the wrong one. Definitely enjoying The Scorceses though, I just hit Counterfeit Battleships and it's an awesome tune.

Good to hear you're enjoying it. That song is probably my favorite on the album. The horns and drums are so good.

Damn right it has been. The past couple years have been pretty damn good. Plus this year there is still new Mustard Plug, Mad Caddies, JB Conspiracy and FiF albums coming out and even Johnny Socko had a new recording. I've also found a bunch of good NEW ska bands the past few years which is great. Love to see the old bands putting out new stuff, but it's even better knowing there's up and coming bands and that ska isn't completely dead. Just tons of really good ska stuff has been coming out and I hope to see it continue into 2014.

Five Iron Frenzy's new album is up on Spotify. It sounds really awesome even if not much of it is ska. Just got to the 5th song which is the first (only?) ska/reggae I've heard. Mostly rock with horns so far, but it's got a great sound. Really upbeat and full of energy. Check it out.

I only just discovered this thread, and haven't read through it but I am so happy it exists. Hugely looking forward to seeing all the inevitable postings of amazing ska music that I have yet to hear.

My ska library is relatively small, though I've been listening to it for years.

Reel Big Fish were my introduction, along with Less Than Jake. Then discovered Streetlight Manifesto (and Catch22).
Found a lot of local Australian ska bands I enjoyed as well, like Chris Duke and the Royals.

Always good to see more Ska fans in the thread. Definitely tons of great stuff posted here by everyone. Hopefully you can find some good bands to listen to.

Never listened to Chris Duke and the Royals, so I'm checking it out now. Luckily they have some stuff on Spotify and I'm liking it. I've been getting back into the punk side of ska, so it's good to hear some stuff I haven't listened to. Thanks for sharing. Post some more Australian ska bands if you know of some. The one band I know from there that comes to mind is Melbourne Ska Orchestra and they're amazing. I've probably heard a few more, but that's the only I can think of right now.

Happy to hear you're enjoying it soultron. I had pretty much the same reaction as you. As soon as I heard the first few seconds of the album I knew it was going to be a good one. I could listen to her sing all day. Ska and Soul music together is so good.

Searched the thread, and couldn't find anything about it. Some ska from Greece.

Oh man, I haven't listened to The Porkers in many years. Didn't know they were from Australia. Loved the songs Perfect Teeth, Aporkalyso & their Burning Love cover. They also have way more albums than I thought they did. Looks like I've got some catching up to do.

Haven't heard of these guys before. Thanks for sharing. Definitely a different sound from the ska I usually listen to. I like it.

Which contemporary Ska bands are you all listening to recently?

My favorites nowadays are Streetlight Manifesto, Mad Caddies, The Planet Smashers, Sonic Boom, and The Aquabats.

There are a lot of good Japanese Ska bands, too (favorites in bold): Hey Smith, Dad Mom God, Ore Ska Band, Ska Ska Club, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Mini Ska Box, Your Song Is Good, Pistol Valve, midnightPumpkin, Gollbetty, Kemuri, The Miceteeth, Shakalabbits, Skull Candy, Witchery Skank, and Yum!Yum!ORANGE

Here's Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra with Yoshie Nakano as a guest vocalist.

I used to listen to quite a bit of ska when I was younger (not so much now), but I still will put on Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Let's Face It is probably the one I listen to the most.

I would have mentioned them, but I didn't care for their last album. I love Let's Face It and A Jackknife to a Swan.

I've been hearing a lot of buzz about the new FIF album, but totally missed that streetlight released a new album this year.

I am a ska casual and basically only listen to streetlight and reel big fish.

I make up for it in the ridiculously large number of times I've listened to every streetlight album.

I was a ska fan during the peak of the fad, but fell away when 90% of everyone else did.

Though, Hi de Ho by K7 always immediatly comes to mind.
