It's too bad, because they hockey scene way back in episode 10 or whenever was really enjoyable for me. It made the whole thing personal and kept everything to a small, believable scale. Now it's just absurd, especially given what they have done. |

It rings of the same philosophy with which Watanabe approached Jin in the JP track of Samurai Champloo. Ginpei Sato was chosen against the larger will of the production crew, ultimately, (And I parahprase) because Watanabe actually dug his unusually blunt, intonation-less delivery; saying that Jin wasn't your generic nihilistic pretty boy, and with him he'd sound 'fresh' and natural. It worked great in the end there, and I'm hoping he expands upon the concept with Apollon. |

Hmmm, you're right. I could've swore he was the guy with the glasses and silver hair. They sound very similar.
Anyway, I could still throw out quite a few shows that animegaf wouldn't exactly be open to. |

That was such an awkward date. Whatever, let's just get this over with. I really didn't want to bother with season 2, but apparently it's going to star Hiroshi Kamiya, Tomokazu Sugita, AND Daisuke Ono? God damn my seiyuu addiction...

Shin Mazinger 24-26
Holy Shit What an incredible trio of episodes to end. So much wonderful back and forth, so much backstabbing. Everyone had anticipated everyone else's moves in advance save for Dr. Hell's true motivation. Any concerns I had about the series having a wavering quality towards the middle were swept away here as every last bit of this show was handled with such care. I'll commend the decision to make the first episode from pieces of the 24 and 25. It's an instant hook, every character is put into play immediately, and it gives the audience a sense of anticipation as to what was being built towards. I thought the pacing of the show was a bit wonky at times given how many episodes were devoted to the first night but I think I see them now as smaller arcs to put everything into motion for that finale. They did it right too, giving away just enough but leaving room to surprise the viewer once the time to finally watch this arrived. What Kenzo did to the Mycenaeans was rather horrific but Ashura's history (and destiny) was moreso although entirely engaging. What Dr. Hell did to Tristan and Iseult was grotesque and I felt a lot of sympathy for Ashura and the shame it endured at being a mockery of a human. It's easily the best character though and the ending cemented this series as being its story. It was fantastic to see my perception of it change from whiny inept lapdog to tragic character to someone that finally took control and embraced its destiny. I've no problems with the ending either. It fit well with the "one step ahead" motif the show embraced, it provides a launching point if this is ever revisited, and it came after Ashura's enidng. Going forward with it in this series wouldn't have set well with me as the most important piece would have been missing. So fucking good.

Also, choose your color system wisely for you shalt be judged. When you get it, go on the eShop and download Nintendo Video, leave your wireless on, close the lid and wait a couple mins, and bam!, it'll be there. |

Well, we've had entire episodes devoted to character drama but as the show wraps up now we apparently need to devote time to forced alien drama and lots of chase sequences. Oh well, it's not like there wasn't some character stuff in there as well but I can't say that I'm a huge fan of that approach but they pull if off about as well as anyone could. The pacing for this series is extremely impressive. Oh and for Kanna she will truly be forever alone. HA.
