Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky is great! I also like Lunar Silver Star Harmony.
For strategy RPGs, Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions, Jeanne D'Arc, and Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together. Persona 3 Portable is also pretty good. You need a good sized memory stick for these obviously, but FF Tactics, Jeanne D'Arc, and Lunar have moderate file sizes. EDIT: I forgot about the Ys games. They're also awesome and have generous file sizes.

Will use d3doverrider to force triple buffering instead of complaining about mouse lag in every PC game thread ever

I really want to get it...but fuck, I really hate the damage numbers in all the recent portable FF entries. It's like they pop up at 5fps. It annoys me.
Persona 3 Portable gets my vote. Disgaea 2 if you want a really good grind-a-thon. |

Final Fantasy IV - If you've never played FFIV, this is a good solid version to get.
Persona 3 Portable - Amazing game, will keep you occupied for a long time. Ys Seven - Really fun action RPG. Beating things up is really satisfying. Tactics Ogre - Gameplay is very similar to FFT but this is more fast-paced and player-friendly. Valkyria Chronicles II - Gameplay is very unique, combines strategy and third-person shooting. |

They haven't been out that long in Europe, but still Persona 3, Valkyria Chronicles 2 and FF4 are about the same price :(

We had a wonderful thread about this a few months ago, though I don't think much of the RPGs are on PSN, and I'm not sure about the Vita-compatibility. However, it's worth a look!
I bought a new PSP! So where are all these great RPGs people are talking about? Quoting my first post in that thread:

Thanks again, picking up Ys Seven, either FF Tactics or Tactics Ogre (never played either*), and FFIV Complete. I want Person 3, but I'll wait for a sale.
*Tactical RPGs are not my bread and butter, have always avoided them, but where better to start with one of these titles... Now, WHICH ONE? |

I can confirm this. Also, it's like 40 bucks on PSN normally, but if you search on PS3 for Valkyria, you'll see a bundle thats 22.49 thats the game and all the DLC. It'll transfer over onto the vita no problem.
