Bare with me, this might seem a little ridiculous.

Was just imagining what it would be like if you could select text and just drag it to a hotcorner (or edge, in this case) for an instantaneous google search. For some reason or another Apple seems weary to add it to the little popup menu when copy/pasting, which lets be honest is probably nearly the worst part about ios as it is so I understand not wanting to add even more stuff to it. The highlight feature in iBooks is already waaaay more friendly than copy/pasting. If you could just drag your finger magically across something and then just swipe it to the side for a search it would be pretty neat and fun.

Anyone have trouble accessing their purchase history in the app story. I've tried everything, and still can't get it to show up.

My dad recently got an iPad 3, and he wants to get an SD card adapter to put all of his PDF's on. Would the one that comes with the camera set be a good idea for this?

Apple doesn't allow that. He'd have to jailbreak his iPad first. If he wants external physical storage he would have to get a wireless solution like CloudFTP

His best bet would be to get a Dropbox account if they take up a lot of space (aka more than iPads on board storage which I am assuming is the case for him) and load them up on that.

I traded my launch iPad 3 with 4G to a guy for his wifi only model that he bought 1.5 months back. The difference in heat is instantly apparent, the old one used to get hot quite quickly with light web browsing, games, etc. The new one hasn't gotten hot yet, no matter what I do with it. Did Apple quietly fix the heat issues? If you've got a iPad that gets really hot, swap it for another model and see if it's the same for you.

Questions about Tweetbot:

1. Why isn't it a universal app? I've got a new iPad and a 4s. Why would I have to buy this app twice?
2. What's so great about it? I use Twitter just to follow people - not to Tweet myself. Why would I need Tweetbot?

Its not universal because when the iphone app was made the ipad app didnt exist. also they dont want to force people to pay for the ipad version if they just want the iphone version and vice-versa. so instead of it being a 6 dollar its two 3 dollar ones.

also nothing is "so great about it" its just very very very nicely designed and a joy to use. its not going to magically make you a great tweeter or anything. if you value good app design and want something a little more engaging and fun to use than the freebies go for it

I'm finding it impossible to delete music from my iPad. I tried removing them manually, by way of synching, pretty much every way you cant think of... itunes tells me the ipad has no music but they're still there... and when I synch there they are again (and yes, synching is unchecked, obviously). I need space and have 9GB worth of music in it that I cannot remove. Help?

If you're really desperate, I'm pretty sure you can swipe right to delete music now if you haven't tried that, with individual songs. Obviously that's not ideal, but I don't think there's a way to delete whole albums/playlists (could be wrong, though, I don't have music on my iPad so I can't check).

by any chance are you subscribed to iTunes Match? i had the same issue on my device once I activated ITM, downloaded some songs from the cloud, deleted them, then adding some via my PC. somewhere along the way about 20 songs refused to be deleted and were always grayed out. they even survived a device wipe.

My GF is using my iPad and won't have a smartphone till iPhone 5

What app can we use to text each other from iPad to iPhone? Keep in mind the iPad is under the same apple ID as the iPhone for iMessage won't work (it does but it's confusing texting your own name and it doesn't notify you).

You can go into messages, iCloud, and store settings to log in with different apple ids.

Just got the new iPad, my first Apple tablet (was previously operating on a jailbroken Nook Color as my makeshift tablet of choice). I've had iOS devices before (multiple iTouches), but it's my first real foray into the iPad tablet OS. Anyone have apps to recommend to me (games, entertainment modules, etc.) and ways to optimize and maximize my iPad experience?

Has anybody tried ordering from MIC?

I'm looking for a CF reader and this one looks reasonable @ $35. Has anybody had any luck with this company-or are there other readers that you might recommend?

There's TwelveSouth's BookArc and Compass (I think) for iPad. I don't have either, but either one of those two are what I'm set on getting.

wow, that looks fantastic, I'm just worried how easy it would topple over with a slight bump.

I want one for my MacBook Pro, as well. It's pretty sweet. I'm assuming there's a rubbery material that'll prevent it from slipping off.

Another option would be the Griffin PowerDock or Arrowhead. The PowerDock is purely to charge both iPad and iPhone, and the Arrowhead is a minimalist stand. Props up your iPad and it's very small and easy to store away (if needed).

This is an NBC Olympics App issue, there are no technical restrictions in video apps streaming audio in the background. Many video apps allow you to bring up the audio playback controls by swiping to the right over the quick app switcher and pressing play. It is unknown as to why the app does not have this feature. I suspect it is because it was a poorly made app that wasn't well tailored to any particular platform and instead was built on top of Adobe, however I can assure you that this is not a limitation of iOS.

A smart app developer would let you switch it to an audio feed to have it continue in the background. Blame lazy developers, not iOS.

This may be a dumb question. But with the av adapter with hdmi. I know you can mirror to a tv or monitor or whatever. But does it mirror everything? I'm watching a webstream on the ipad and want to put it on the monitor (as the work computer sucks and cant handle it). Would that display on the monitor?

Probably? If you have an iPad with mirroring it does do a direct mirror of the interface...

First thing I noticed, this thing is heavy and has quite bit more weight to it then I thought, which is a very good thing because it takes a good nudge to knock this thing over. Comes with 2 inserts, the standard is for the ipad without a case and the other is bigger for cases (thinner cases, they say remove the insert all together if you have a big case), my ipad with the Apple smart case fit fine. Also like being about to place it either portrait or landscape. Looks fantastic, and I thank you for introducing it to me.

There's pretty much no point in getting the 2 unless you really don't care about screen quality and you're desperate to save a bit of money.
