Really surprised at the amount of nice people and outpouring of support from gaf. Was not expecting that. So this post serves a dual purpose as a shameless bump and a sincere thanks to everyone who's been nice and/or voted. Would like to reply to all you nice people individually, but there's too many of you. Wife and fam thank you as well.

Thanks to everyone who is being nice about this. I really didn't want to post this and was ready to never show my face (avatar) here again. Sigh... the things I do for her. Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. The picture doesn't really capture the problems we have in our kitchen though. Countertop is falling apart and rotting in certain areas: Paint is chipping inside the cabinets. A couple of contractor's who've been by believe that there may be lead-based paint underneath the chipping paint (very old house with original cabinets). Vinyl flooring is full of holes and punctures Not the worst thing imaginable, but it definitely needs work.

My mom has two cats and she raises them old school Egyptian style (doesn't fix them, lets them run around outside and freely hunt and mate, feeds them chicken and meat scraps, etc. ) Sofie is a product of my mom's Maine Coon running around the neighbourhood and mating. She was so cute as a kitten that we just had to keep her <3.

New cabinet fronts and shelves (or just repaint/stain the existing ones), and some counter tops.

Yep, fucking adorable. I have a Ragdoll and my mother has a couple, and yours looks remarkably like one. I wouldn't have guessed part Maine Coon though, crazy.
