Italy gets a new tv deal similar to bbc-sky in britain.

Except they only get 9 live races instead of 10.

F1 is going to die, advertisers will soon wise up and start paying the teams proportionally less based on viewing numbers.

LOL, I already changed it once, not realising there was already a deadman on the boards. Poor guy has had to deal with an impostor for ages now.

Does anyone here live in Manhattan?

I have a ticket to the Formula One Team Association (FOTA) Fan Forum on June 11th.

Quote:
Caterham’s US driver Alexander Rossi, Sauber’s Sergio Perez, Sahara Force India driver Paul di Resta, and Charles Pic from Marussia will all be in attendance to answer your questions, and will be on hand to sign autographs after the Q&A, which will be hosted by CNBC’s Brian Sullivan.
Anyone interested?

Looks exactly the same as 2011 but you can change the brakes like the fuel type, and gravel seems to stay on the tyres for longer.

Bernie Ecclestone has signalled that Formula One could drop its free‑to‑air television coverage on the BBC since the exposure it gets through the pay‑per‑view broadcaster Sky is sufficient on its own. It follows the announcement on Thursday that the rights to broadcast live F1 races in Italy have been sold to Sky Italia in a deal which further reduces the sport's free-to-air coverage.
It begins.

Im hopeful for 2013, i dont expect anything beyond that.

It already pretty much is save for the few races Fox broadcasts. Don't forget Speed is a cable package channel on most providers.

Hmmm... I guess I understand that sentiment, but Speed has been in the basic cable package for a long time here so that's kind of "free" to me. Ugh. I hate cable but I can't really live without it either..

It's weird how Speed is in some basic-type cable packages (like where I live) but is part of only the top tier, sans HBO etc, of pay bundles in other areas (like where my parents live).

Everywhere I have lived, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee, Speed has always been part of the highest cable tier (just below HBO, Showtime...) never basic cable. So at least $60-80 a month.

I have a question that (I hope) only F1 GAF can answer...

I was at the Montreal GP last year. When the rain thinning, but the track was wet, and the cars drove by kicking up mist, there was a sweet smell in the air and a sweet taste to the mist. What produces this? Is it the exhaust fumes mixing with the mist? Or is it the tire compounds assimilating with the moisture? Is it the fuel I am tasting?

Then finally if we get this far... for chemGAF, what chemical compounds could cause this sensation?

BTW your answers, should they be worthy, will help me write an article.

Danny Bahar fired as Lotus CEO. I can see Tony Fernandez laughing as the mess Lotus has become.
Bahar has probably doomed Lotus cars to failure after his laughable and very ambitious plans have failed.

Edit: too late i see.

I read somewhere that it is in part the oils and exhaust that get deposited/ejected by the cars which get into the water and vaporized. It also happens on regular roads where oil deposited by cars is kicked up with the water, and it has the same sweetly smell and taste.
