Just finished watching the BBC highlights, some dickhead in the Football OT spoiled the result for me after I asked for no one to post about it (not too unreasonable a request) just in case anyone was going to. Pretty pissed about that but whatever.
Anyway, good race from McLaren that, pleased for Jenson. RBR's quali must've only been a slip-up, Mercedes were disappointing and feel very bad for Williams, deserved those points. Alonso too, drove the wheels off that Ferrari. |

This is true. I'd hate to see what he could do in a truly great car... it would be scary shit. He may be lacking a little of the heart that he's had in previous years, but given the situation with Ferrari, it's understandable. Hopefully he finds it before Malaysia and he can give us a great show.

No, he's threatening to do it and requested to sit with Mercs and FiA. So basically if he doesn't get an idea of how it works he'll do it. Few teams are backing him as well.
He might have read it "somebody post" ? What did he say? did he apologise? EDIT: and btw, the best way to avoid any spoilers is a media blackout. Just watch the race with a nice drink and stay away from the internet. Even if this guy gets banned/smacked/raped for spoiling it for you. You can't guarantee it won't happen again :)

Plus Sky's increased payment for the coverage means the teams get more money out of it. I can't remember the estimated figure, but I think it was around a million each. Sure, in a few years if interest in F1 has dramatically reduced, they may well start to have issues with FOM about it, but even then, they still wouldn't shun Sky. As for the BBC's coverage, my fears have been largely eased. Sure, it's a shame to have only 10 minutes of pre-race coverage, and to nearly entirely cut parc fermé celebrations, but you know what, they aren't worth hundreds of pounds a year. |

And that is true, I thought if I limited myself to only non-F1 GAF threads and nothing else (no Facebook, Twitter etc.) I'd have been safe. The irony is had I not mentioned the F1 in that thread it probably wouldn't have been spoiled :\ |

Made it! Managed to avoid the result for about four hours before settling down to watch the Beeb coverage. Not a bad race, a bit boring at the very top but exciting from about fourth downwards.
Now to wade through a bazillion posts since last night, and then phone Mum. |

Pretty ominous quote from Whitmarsh (albeit, I'm sure, not without a hint of gamesmanship):

I believe it. McLaren and Button were so confident this weekend; there has to be a reason behind that. They seem like Red Bull were last year.
I don't see McLaren running away with it though. It's only a matter of time before Red Bull improve the car enough, and maybe Mercedes and Lotus will make good on their quali pace. |

I'm sure I read over the winter that the non-live forums would only be online (presumably further delayed), but I'm surprised it hasn't been clarified what's going on yet.

Lewis needs a lesson in conduct. His attitude isn't going to make him many friends in the team. |

In the unlikely event that anyone's interested, I timed the BBC coverage from lights-out to chequered flag. 70:20. I make that about 23:50 minutes cut from the race; I suspect a big chunk of that would be under the safety car, though.
I have to admit, watching the highlights, it didn't *feel* cut to shreds most of the time; possibly because the commentary always felt continuous, which must be a reasonably impressive editing feat. |

Anyway, 37th on my first weekend of the year. Shame about qualifying performance but Sauber came good in the race, yey! |

Nevertheless, the commentary we did get sounded continuous. |

![]() I actually missed a few moments yesterday, bloody internet connection was failing on me. Got it sorted out now so should be fine for the next race weekend. I watched some of the BBC race highlights, didn't like the commentary at all. Martin Brundle and David Croft were much better. |
