Although Hawk was tougher to deal with than Eagle in my memory, which is logical considering the weight loss. Btw, I liked FMA, wouldn't want a reread tho. |

The only consistent smut talk is Aunt Tits / Minamoto-kun Monogatari. I mean, I guess there's the occasional one but it's in passing usually. Oh, TLRD too. |

Give Seishun Kouryakuhon a read. It's by the same author, but much shorter and focused mostly on boys and their high school life. |

Skip Beat 186 - Bubblebath ... Tsuruga ... wut. Anyway, maybe FINALLY GETTING TO REN'S DARK SIDE PAST. It took 186 chapters but maybe she'll finally figure something out!
...lolno. And then one-two skip a few etc. etc. caught up Skip Beat, up to 190 - Yup, love these little Shou/Ren showdowns. I guess Kijima is around too to add a third party (that will probably be irrelevant now) but whatever. The breakdown of Ren's "can't be with her" and Kyouko's "will never love" is starting to happen so, hey, maybe something will happen before Chapter 200. But I'm not expecting anything. Also, random fanservice for Mimori. I guess it's appropriate but was that like the first fanservice shot in the entire manga? 189 chapters for it. Might be a record. The shots of Kyouko's various looks over the course of the manga reminded me that, damn, I loved her look back during Dark Moon. The short-haired Mio look without the scar.

So....
Ippo... I'm so confused to the manga's direction with Aoki & Kimura. I mean they are vets were we barely see any real progress. They don't get a real focus when their matches come up and it's like second fiddle to the other guys. They feel like wasted material and I don't like that because they've been fleshed out and deserve more. Man someone give us our next Takamura fight to get super hyped about. Naruto So sauce is now second guess his revenge against the leaf? Ochi is back? Well glad the best villain is back to say the least. One Piece ...it's going on break...sigh Bleach ........I want more fights.... Zetsuen no Tempest I don't know why but...I kinda like reading this...I don't know |

Price may be a factor but that is not the only reason plus no other anime sells any where near Ghibli or Evangelion movies even if they price the same . Most of them also don't fall into the family category of Ghibli movies also .
All you have to do is look at USA tv shows they are price okay but they don't sell any where near movies because the buying habits are not the same for people . Plus with Japan people have small places collecting series is even a bigger deal along with other factors .
When a anime is made most of the time it's to sell manga , light novels , games , toy etc etc if does not effect any of that those we only going to get sequel is base on dvd\blu ray sales. Now the thing is in Japan anime does not have to sell a huge amount of copies to supports it's self because the price are so high . Lowering the price might get more people to buy but they question is how much more are going to buy tv series at a lower price . The last thing you want is to lower the price to get more people to buy and it does not work and you end up like NA anime industry . To use a gaming saying you want anime companies to run after COD money ( COD being Ghibli ) when lower there price don't mean they going to get any where the sales. Another problem anime has is how Japanese TV work , they have to pay to show there anime which can cost thousands of yen .

I don't think you'll find any argument from me that there is a good reason why it is this way. Everything you mentioned, I am aware of. That doesn't mean it is a healthy model or one which is good for consumers or fans. It is bad for pretty much everyone involved, but it happens to be stable enough in this smaller bubble to continue to make enough money for the industry to just continue existing. But the point is that if there is a complete upheaval of how the anime industry works, it CAN be better. Sure the entire industry could also fail and cease to exist, and that risk is why none of the major players are particularly interested in changing how it works. My opinion when it comes to improving the health of the industry is not just to lower the price. I'm simply stating that the price of TV anime is the main barrier of entry for consumers. It is the factor that affects consumers who are interested into getting into buying anime the most. This is why it is a tiny market compared to everything else. In order to be able to make money off anime and to also sell it at reasonable prices, it would require a complete rethink of how the business works. The reason why they have to pay to get most anime on air is because the majority of TV anime airs at ungodly hours with poor ratings and no ad value whatsoever. So unless sponsors agree to pay for that ad time that the show will air in, stations are less willing to bother co-producing the show. The reason for this is also directly because of the small market that anime has carved out for itself. This is far from the ideal situation, hence the business model even though it works for getting a return on investment, is broken. If anime had a totally different appeal, and is seen a mainstream and normal industry like manga where anyone who is interested can watch stuff at reasonable hours, and if they want to buy the DVD/BDs they are not sold in ridiculous ways which only hardcore fans would accept, then it would also be more attractive to air anime with normal advertising, and for stations to co-produce anime series without having ridiculous pre-conditions. That's all I'm saying. I don't think it will happen, and I do think it is very unrealistic that it will change anytime soon, but I definitely don't think it is a normal thing to look at the industry and say that the business model is not broken, because it is. |
