That sucks. More time to get through some of my backlog then I guess.

Same thing happened to the horrible 360 version of the first one at the last minute. Not expecting this to be a performer on consoles, but I hope I am wrong. Regardless, it is no more than a rent for me.

The last dungeon and ending is pretty disappointing but everything up to that is great. |

If they don't deteriorate the endgame similarly this time around, Risen 2 could be GOTY material. |

If you like open world rpgs then you should definitely play it. I think they patched out TAGES recently so there's no reason not to buy it.

I'll have to agree with the other posters. The first game is worth getting because of the exploration and the combat was challenging but fun.

Definitely.
Even the dungeons, despise being very short, had the perfect feeling: dangerous places filled with strong enemies and deadly traps, where you needed to pay proper attention to survive, instead of being just places navigable with the "follow the corridor looking at the glowing thing in the minimap" approach. |

I'm pretty sure that both console versions are being ported by the same studio that made the 360 port of the first game. The difference is that this time they were planned from the beginning (Risen was pretty far along when the publisher decided that they wanted a console port and the devs that made the port didn't have much time to do it). You can tell just by looking at the UI, Risens UI was designed around kbm while Risen 2s UI seems to be designed around a controller, kind of like The Witcher 1 -> The Witcher 2. |
