Ahhh, thanks. I've only ever bought "New" weapons.
I don't think we should even be able to buy them, but whatever. :p

Probably won't be on tonight because I have a wedding to attend but I should be on most of the weekend. When does the season end and everything reset?

Currently working on building up money. Still undecided how I want to play, so I'm basically just playing a better version of the default mech.

I figured that something was wrong with the descriptions on the store.

Seasons end every wednesday at 6 am. The only territory that is lost is that which is at 0 AP. So, nothing resets if you defend your territory.

Edit: 1 slot has been freed up in Dreadnoughts on the PS3 side. Password is still "1218", so feel free to join up.

I'm so on the fence about this one. Some friends are getting it hoping it's another Chromehounds, but the videos just don't have that feel for me. Customizing mechs looks good though...

Okay, so I gave the thermal energy weapons a good run last night and today and... okay, they're pretty good depending on the situation. I find they are the most useful in the deathmatch scenario with everyone against everyone else.

They kinda suck against fast moving people, but if you get someone that doesn't boost all crazy, or is in a heavier mech, and is weak against TE they tear them up.

I start out the match with a karasawa in my right hand and the KRSW in my left hand and just kind of skirt the battlefield looking for people engaged in combat... then I move in and put a karasawa shot in their back.

I've seen it take off 10k on someone with a single shot. Just did some deathmatches and I was the last one alive each round as all these guys were weak against TE and I was strong against CE, which was mostly the damage type they were using.

So, the verdict is, at least for me, if I'm going to be on the frontlines dealing with fast light weight mechs, then I'll probably stick with KE/CE weapons. But, if I'm kind of stealthing it up and keeping to the back and doing flanking operations, then TE weaponry all the way.

Oh, and I made the color scheme of my TE centric mech pink and yellow. So if you see a pink and yellow dude out there flying around, watch your ass :P

It depends on the time of day, but I just got off a little while ago and there were games to be found.

AC isn't a huge community on either platform, so don't expect it to be CoD.

I am a bit worried about the longevity of the online, as I can already tell that interest for the mainstream players is tailing off. In a couple weeks there will probably only be the hardcore left.

Pretty sure the server latency would suck for me. Also, Japanese players are crazy good. I'd cry as they bent me over every match :P

360 players don't have that option, regardless, since that version is region locked anyway.

Oh, and as far as GAF teams go, gaffers generally have the attention span of a rock, so I'm not surprised to see people logging in less and less. I ran a guild for gaffers in an MMO back in the day, and it was a disaster there too which is why I didn't want to lead a team here.

Managed a really decent build after tinkering with it all day. Wielding dual battle rifles that are just absolutely destroying people with a plasma gun and shotgun as my L/R bay weapons as secondaries. My team and I have taken three areas tonight in Conquest! Feels good, man. I've not been killed since I made this new build. :D

Feels good when you make a build that just clicks with you. That's how it was for me when I made my white and orange AC. Then, I refined it and made my black and orange version... totally in love with it.

My other AC's are fun, though. I have 13 different AC's made so far and will probably make a few more. :)

Yeah when playing with GAF, unless its something like PSO or Diablo (things that get really addictive lol) always recruit non-gaf as well.

Depending on what goes on tomorrow, i'll probably be around to help out Saturday night.

Mobius might have to merge with Ravens.

9 Story missions and about 83 Order missions I think.

Mercenary missions not starting is, I think, because the game is trying to find a party of players but doesn't do a good job of telling you it is.

On the PS3 version there is a pulsating light from a section of the map. We have no idea what it is but is this perhaps tied to a multiplayer boss? If so how do we fight it?

Here's a question: could a get by only playing this game online?

As in, would I be missing out on any important weapons that may or may not carry over into the online and would I be fine with the content the multiplayer has to offer?

That's great info to have. Thanks! I'm on in the evenings after 7 or 8PM EST and also at various times on weekends.

Do you think we should try to put together an appointment time for getting together with this game each week? An ACV night? :)

@Mechazawa,

I wish I knew. I don't know how important it is to go through and get all those salvage parts from the story missions. Hell, aside from buying them in the shop, I'm hazy on how we get new parts.

For example, are the preorder bonus parts in-game that we can unlock somehow or is it something that's coming to us non-preorderers as DLC or something? Are the salvage parts actually useful parts worth going through the effort to get?

The preorder bonus gives you early access to parts that you unlock once your team level hits 50. You buy them in the shop. Even with the preorder bonus you end up having to re-buy many of the parts anyway since the preorder parts aren't able to be leveled up/specialized and are just the basic versions.

And yes, there are several parts that you get from the story mode that are worth having.

Thanks!

Played several free play player matches today. Hella fun but I have a lot of re-specing to do. TE weapons tear me apart. :(

Also, everything is a bit faster than I would have thought in this game in multiplayer. Got behind a tank and thought I had it right where I wanted it but it's turning speed was much faster than I anticipated and it ended up getting the upper hand.

What a great game. A small mistake can get you killed, it's pretty fast, and there's a lot of positional strategy and twitch gameplay. Good stuff.

Tanks get a turning bonus when they're stationary, so they can turn faster than you can move generally if they're not moving. I usually stalk them from above, let them get whittled down by others, and then drop in for the kill.

TE weapons are also pretty bad ass right now in MP. Most people have virtually no TE defense, I've found, and so I've just been taking in my high CE/TE resistant AC and using TE weaponry on him and have been winning a bunch of matches. Did some Battle Royale matches yesterday and won every match until everyone got frustrated and bailed :P

Has nothing to do with patches. Each season lasts a week and ends on Wednesdays. You'll see this every week. At the end of the season any territory that's at 0 AP is lost by the holding team(s).

Went from a heavy sniper tetrapod to a balanced biped and I'm surprised how much it did for me. I went from being dead weight to carrying a team fairly well. I'm still more interested in becoming a dedicated Operator.

Joined the team Manly Tears who are trying to take control of Abandoned Facility.

Edit: I still miss not being able to completely destroy story enemies in 1-2 shots

I think im getting lost in the possibilities of this game.

I made a mech thats described in the AC data as a high mobility, high def long range. With laser rifle+ pulse gun+ shotgun + pile driver.

I find this fun but after seeing some videos of peoples flying all over the place like ZOE. Makes me wonder...

Any good sites for builds?

I haven't found any good sites for builds. In addition to playing SP and MP, I've learned a lot watching videos of matches and noting people's builds, e.g., http://www.youtube.com/user/TehGodly...?feature=watch

Among all of the many, many build possibilities, a few builds seem common this patch. For multiplayer, I've played or experimented with:

1) The cookie cutter multiplayer build this patch has dual USG-23 gatling guns, dual Strekoza battle rifles (or Lotus - specialized for range have quite a reach), UHR-23 Asanol flash rockets, and Hvy Reverse Joint Putuo legs for stability/firing rate.

2) Pulse cannon tank build. Tanks seem the best counter to the cookie cutter USG-23 gatling gun build. I've experimented with: (Head)HD-19 CHROMEYE, (Core)JOTUN CR113-2, (Arms) UAM-10 SEVERN, (Legs) ULG-92 VINDHYA, (FCS)KV-1T2/OTKRYT, (Generator) SONNE GNE530, (FCS)URD-36/ER, (RArm)UPC-37 / H, (LArm) KO-8K3/KORZINA, (RHanger) KO-2H6/STREKOZA, (LHanger)LOTUS BR429, (Shoulders)PESTWURZ VM108. Vertical rockets can be quite nasty.

3) Godly Perfection's high mobility dual sniper build. I haven't seen anything faster and I've gotten addicted to its speed and mobility. Takes a lot of skill to take on gatling gun builds with it, but it's so much fun to play. (Head) KT-1G/FUXI, (Core)WODAN CR110, (Arms)UAM-23 ANIMAS, (Legs), ULG-20 / L, (FCS)PREDIRE FCS190, (Generator) UGN-71/Lw, (Booster) BT-21 SHINATSU, (Recon) URD-36/ER, (LArm)SEIDENBAUM SR13, (RArm)SEIDENBAUM SR13, (Shoulders)USC-1 DHANBAD. Dual subcomputers on the 2 shoulder slot arms help with shooting considerably. Energy goes quickly, helped by moving in scan mode. For a glass cannon build, I prefer dual Seidenbaum's to Seidenbaum+Strekoza.

4) Quad legs with Salem sniper cannon. Haven't optimized this but something like (Head)BEOWULF HD103, (Core)JOTUN CR113-2, (Arms)KT-4S2/SVIR, (Legs)KT-4N2/BELUKHA, (FCS)FCS-07/Lr UZUME, (Generator)KV-3D3/PROCHNYI, (Booster)TEMPETE BT49, (FCS)URD-36/ER, (RArm)USC-26 / H SALEM, (LArm)KO-2H6/STREKOZA, (RHanger)SEIDENBAUM SR13, (Shoulders)PESTWURZ VM108

I'm still exploring options. I've seen a fair number builds with shotguns for CQC, usually KO-3K2. I haven't tried builds with howitzers or heat howitzers, which I understand can be useful in team matches.

I switched to a pure shotgun highly mobile build. Pretty fun, but I am no where used to it. Also considering switching from shotguns to another type of gun.

I want to get in on that PS3 group for the next season.

for fun, try stun builds.

put on some Handguns or Shotguns with extremely high stun (1400+), put in KE rockets (even more stun) as shoulder weapon. use a light/mobile biped build. watch your opponents rage quit because they get stun locked for the entire match.

don't worry about not hitting with your ke rockets, they have very low cool down and high ammo count, if you manage to get a volley of them hit (they fire 3 rounds each time) you'll get enough time to stun lock your opponent.

the downside of this build is that it's pure KE, you can still kill a heavy KE defense opponent but you'll probably have to exhaust all your ammo just to do it.

edit: about howitzers, before the 1.02 patch it was pretty deadly at close range. the best howitzers fired 3-5 rounds per shoot, each shoot doing like 3200 CE damage and had a cooldown of like 60 (can't be sure but it was nerfed to like 390 now). The only downside to this weapon is that it has the worst accuracy out of any weapon due to it's weird tragectory, but it can kill tanks in like 10 seconds if you dual wield them. Now they are pretty useless. i used to carry two as sub weapons just to deal with tanks.

I already have an AC that's almost the same exact thing as Godly Perfection's high mobility build, talk about a coincidence!

I'm gonna try and get better with it if it's that good.

Just for clarification: When you equip your shoulder unit on arms that have 2 slots, the unit's effect doubles? Because I'm not gaining a new slot for a different shoulder unit.

Sup guys? Didn't realize we had an OT up in Neogaf, so maybe I'll stop by here more often. Glad you guys like the videos. ;) lol... I'm going to play some catch up on the discussions in this thread before I start actually posting, but I'll be around here as well now. ;) Working on saving out this new Tips and Tricks video for matchmaking tips.

Good luck with the build man... it is loads of fun to play with. :) As for the dual shoulders, yes it doubles the effect. Also keep in mind that subcomputers do not affect Hanger/Bay units at all... only weapon originally equipped on your arm. And for missiles they don't double your ammo count, they just double the usage and double the simultaneous fire count.
