No it's the only way. You can set up a dummy account though, that's what I use for stuff like this and promotions.

Thanks, guess I'll do that.
Do you experienced Minecraft players have some tips for exploring the world and trying to craft new stuff like metals and stuff? Because right now I am a bit afraid to go too far away from my house because I need shelter at night for monsters :P Also really enjoying the game so far. It's far more entertaining to build stuff then I tought before I bought it. |

I make roofs by standing at a corner, aiming downward a bit and placing a block. You can place them all without building up, you just need to get it to highlight properly. You can crouch for extra help since it will prevent you from falling. |

I went exploring a little bit further away from my beach house and chose a cave to stay for the night. I placed some torches in the corners (wasn't a very big room). Too bad a zombie came to wake me up anyways. So that plan didn't work too well :P
For now finally going to sleep (it's the middle of the night in The Netherlands) to go explore some more tomorrow. This game really got me hooked. According to raptr I already spent six hours today with only a small beach house as visable result :P |

Mushrooms don't grow right in this version?
Man I hate how everything I want to do is not in this version. It's so barebones too what I'm used too. IMO I would of been SOOOO happy with just 1.8 as the start (or 1.9). |

I was going to describe the recipe but isn't it just in the list for this version? You'd put coal in it to make it run automatically. They're really slow and kind of boring.

I'm just curious, there's an achievement for riding 500m in a minecart and I thought it could help me but maybe not. |

Powered minecarts are broken and obsolete in minecraft. Just use 3 boosters to get you going pretty fast. Place 3 boosters against a 2 high wall with a button on the top block for a good launch station.

If you build your doors from the outside (inverted), then you can stand in the space behind your door and hit enemies through the door's little window if you're careful. I only mention this because you built your doors inside out.
I noticed you built your house out of sand. Sand and gravel have physics (will fall) while most other blocks do not. You should build your roof out of a non-physics block like wood, dirt, cobblestone, etc. Non-physics blocks can stick to the side of other blocks without falling. |

My world is CRAZY EPIC! Like, I'm not joking. The landscape is wild. I'll try taking some screenshots after dinner. It's definately a way cooler world than the worlds I played on the Mac version. The corner I've explored is composed of mostly cliffs that reach above the clouds.
Also, I found one of the corners of my world and I started to ponder... you guys think it would be smart to build my home right on the corner of the map? Seems like there might be some advantages to this although I'm not sure what exactly. |

Half the fun about Minecraft for me is the architectural planning. :D |

I know! When I played for like six months on the Mac, I created a massive complex using careful planning. However, now that I'm staring from scratch again I'm having a hard time deciding where to build this time. LOL.
Maybe the very center of the map makes the most sense? I might have to go locate that. Hmm. |

Loving the hell out of this game. Exploring, gathering resources and then using those resources to build. Rinse and repeat. The formula is simple but almost infinite and super addictive. Also slowly tranforming this baron world into your own virtual playground, just works.

Played the crap outta the game today, but early on I'm having some trouble finding coal or charcoal. Anything to use as fuel for my furnace. Any tips as to where to look? (I imagine underground primarily?)
At any rate, wow this is addictive as hell. If you have even a touch of OCD, forgeddaboutit. I find myself needing things to be perfect in my house or as I'm digging. |

Found my first diamond. Was mining around some lava. Turning it into obsidian. Only found one piece of diamond though. I spent forever down there and could not find more diamond.

You know, if you want you can just join my world. I already have a rail setup. I can understand if you would like to earn it yourself though. ;)

I'd dropped out several versions back, so there's a lot new here that I haven't seen. I sat down today to fool around and already sank two hours into it.
Minecrack is back.

Ugh, I wish this had persistent servers. That's the only thing that kept me away from the PC/Mac version... I don't want to be relying on some shmuck to keep a server up, and I don't want to play this by myself. I was really hoping for persistent servers in the 360 version.
So disappointed. :( |

I can envision a persistent world where everyone in the world has their own version and the host migrates depending on who is on etc. Worlds are persistent here though. When you log into someone elses game your inventory is persistent through multiple logoffs. |

I am willing to give out the "On A Rail" achievement to anybody in here for a little bit while i'm onilne.
Me and my friend just built a rollercoaster going in one direction for 500 blocks, so if anybody wants to join my session in progress and ride to get the achievement, you can. Gamertag: rangersfan414 |

My world has 0 lava. Seriously its so rare to find. Every time I find it I end up stuffing it up to try and get obstiaden.
