It's a poor game with high production values. Cover system was solid considering it was the first GTA game to have one. They improved on the engine with RDR and I am sure will improve with GTA5.

Checkpoint/save system never bothered me at all.

Cars handled poorly? Nonsense. I mastered driving those vehicles in that game; tough to master and learn but well worth it. Best driving in an open world game easily for me.

I agree with you on the driving. Trying to drive the higher end sports cars and motorcycles was a challenge for me. The controls for those types of vehicles were very sensitive.
