I sure hope they give a date soon on the demo.
No, they are showing various areas of the game and with different builds. Today was with a Mystic Knight. Tomorrow the Magic Archer.

They've said multiple times that it will. Supposedly we'll be hearing when the demo is coming out 'soon'.

Hoping they will just redo the quests they did in the previous stream and not running around in circles around the city killing lvl1 goblins in 2 hits, with the same basic combos =P

Also, I really want the next game to have 2 player co-op at the least.

Is there a classic battlemage class? A mix of offensive spells and weapon action?

Mystic Knight seems to be more your Paladin-style class. Sword & shield guy with defensive buffs.

So much of Dragon's Dogma looks just excellent, but I'm still put off by the constant presence of A.I. companions. In games of this kind, I much prefer to play as a lone wolf - I didn't use a single companion in Skyrim. A sense of isolation and independence is more appealing to me, for some reason.

That being said - I'm still buying the hell out of this.

The Magic archer has no defense...but he continues to use a dagger....use the damn staff/bow combo.

edit: A guy named icelighter in the chat was harping for it. They finally listened to him. Good job to that guy.

Janky of course, being "need to learn to play properly in order to play".

Are you talking about speed or just animations in general? Character size affect movement speed and stamina as far as I know, and I think height and stuff does too

but I don't know whether or not it will still be janky even if you make the tiniest character

I've just learned this generation to not trust that word until I play the "janky" game for myself to see if it's actual busted-ass controls or what I described.

Animation. Of course, I'm talking after only seeing it through a web page stream, so who knows. Just reminded me of when an MMO is done badly and the mobs don't seem to move through the environment naturally, as if it were two layers, one moving on top of the other, rather than seeming to exist in a single, natural space. It's jarring to me. Lots of MMOs have turned me away instantly because of it. Lineage, Rift, etc.

Ahh, I think interaction with the environment isn't exactly perfect in this game, I've seen weird physics and hit detection as well, if you don't want to look at the blurry streams, the class videos are probably the best you can get that demonstrates animations:

I think there is an achievement for clearing the game twice with the same character, so that would confirm it.

I hope people who criticize this game for looking "janky" did the same for like, every Elder Scrolls game ever. In this case it at least should pay off with interesting combat.

Edit: Not that I'm targeting you, Grandharrier. It's just a topic that comes up fairly often.

Yeah, well it just says complete the adventure a second time for the achievement, I hope the reason they're not talking about it is because of something positive and extra features, and not "you gotta buy dlc to get to lvl199 from post content quests, however you could still restart with the same character."

It's really the last thing I need confirmation to buy it at full price without butt hurt, because I don't buy DLCs, lol

I understand what you are saying. And yes, 3rd person Elder Scrolls is janky as all hell. Which is why I never play it outside of 1st person.

I'm also concerned about interrupting animations. Do we know if the game locks you into animations? Or can you break out of them to say, dodge?

Not sure if it's universal on cancelling animations, because I'm sure some skills can't be cancelled judging from the class videos, while spells could be cancelled by jumping.

I remember seeing Strider having a primary skill that allows you to reset your stance, so some might be class based:

Really don't know until we get our hands on the game though :(

Edit: like from the class videos for strider, it shows that you could roll out of simple combos

Hmm. Interesting. If they allow some measure of interrupting, that will be nice. Part of Monster Hunter's "problem" (emphasis mine) is that it tends to lock you into animation cycles. Once you start, you are committed. Now, granted, Dark Souls is fairly similar, but whether it is just perception, it felt like I could roll dodge out of the way at the last second or pull up my shield in all but a heartbeat. If its like that? Then great. I'd be satisfied.

Yea, I'm sure they probably have put some thoughts into it from what we've seen, it's by the dmc3 director afterall.

Judging from the videos there are some clunky classes like mages and warriors but they seem to be designed that way, etc.

I think that the biggest concern would be keeping the AI alive in critical situations, especially when you are not the healer.

I did see the AI (particularly the mages) do some irrational things.

They are supposed to learn and get better as you go through encounters. So hopefully that means making more intelligent decisions as you play.

Well KoA felt pretty cool, other than being too easy. It did combat well for the most part, just put more effort into flash over substance. I'd say it looked less janky than this, mostly because, it's hard to tell if the weapon should even hit sometimes in these videos, and enemies bouncing around with awkward physics.

All big open world game have a certain degree of jank. I don't see anything in these vids thats worse than jankyness in Skyrim, Fallout 3/New Vegas etc.
