Got the album as a teenager, going back to listen again and just now getting the deeper meanings. Very poetic, driving album.

Any suggestions for some upbeat electronica? High tempo, even half pop stuff would be good. Good strong basslines.

Gamma Ray - Blast from the Past

An amazing 2CD remake compilation and normal compilation (past the third track on second disc) that has made me fall in love with this band.

First non-US album release since who knows when. I loved them back in 2001 and remembering ordering "The Fake Sound of Progress" from Wales only to watch them later become somewhat known here in the states a year or so later. I found their past two albums somewhat disappointing, but this one is much better and more along the lines of "Start Something"

Listening to Mos Def's "Black on Both Sides." Holy CRAP is this an awesome album. The lyrics, the beats, the groove... man, you forget sometimes just how interesting hip-hop can be to listen to.

Got this beauty 2 days ago. I would have bought it 2 years ago when it came out, but Rhino wouldn't send it overseas, and it was pretty expensive on amazon.

Live at Roxy L.A is amazing. Totally worth the price.

Now i hope MBV's reissues will be nearly as good as this edition.

somehow scarier and more listenable than ex-military. there's a real sinister undercurrent on this album of a man who's seen so much shit that he's got nothing left other than to tell his story that is equal parts terrifying, beautiful, and intriguing.

It's definitely a pretty cool disc, although I'd say the re-releases of Psychocandy & Darklands are probably better than it at this point. They have pretty much everything form the first 2 discs of the huge Power of Negative Thinking box(wich has some pretty cool Psychocandy/Darklands-era material), and they're easily the best part of that box anyway.

Was definitely surprised by how loud the Darklands b-sides were.

Amon Tobin - Permutation

I've listened to a lot of albums in April, but none have stricken me quite like Sweet Heart Sweet Light by Spiritualized. I don't think it's too early to coronate it as album of the millennium.

I love almost all of their stuff, but I think those Darklands b-sides were tops. "Kill Surf City" is probably one of my favorite songs of all time...I pretty much bought most of their albums 3 times over (original issues, Dualdiscs, and the current 2CD/DVD reissues), and they were worth the triple-dip.
