I was introduced to Gotye today (incredibly LTTP, I know), and after listening to Making Mirrors a few times I was in love. After listening to Somebody That I Used to Know upwards of twenty five times I decided to check out a few Kimbra songs on YouTube, and I'm very impressed. I hope she finds some success as a female pop singer. She sure has the chops for it, and I dig her style.

You can check out his discography on bandcamp.

I've never heard something like this before. I can't describe it.
Fucking love you been trying to find a legal way to buy his albums since I first heard of him in october. For some reason I just did not check if he had a bandcamp.

Been listening to the new Death Grips, and as of now I still dont think its as good as exmilitary. Still good stuff, but I dig exmilitary's raw production more. Might change my mind after a few more rotations.

Indeed! Was on a huge post-dubstep/chill/quiet electronic binge, and since that I've been in a huge electro/house/dance mood lately. Got home one day suddenly pumped as hell for the album, and now I can't stop listening to it. Felt compelled to make an OT. Can't wait til it comes out.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the AlunaGeorge EP, really liked what I heard. Gonna have to pick that one up.

Psychocandy and Darklands are worth it, my understanding is that they include everything from the first 2 discs of the 4-disc boxset of besides from all areas they released a while back(wich is all the Psychocandy and Darklands era stuff, including the Some Candy Talking EP, wich is great).

They also supposedly have some previously unreleased stuff that wasn't on the boxset, but I haven't compared the song lists, so I'm unclear on what's new.

The artist is amazing! Anyone that loves great music should listen to these. What's awesome is that the artist is a 17 year old kid that started making music in February 2011.

Marilyn Manson - "Born Villain"

Although a lot of people didn't like "The High End of Low", it's probably my favorite Manson record in recent memory.

That being said so far I don't really like this one. The lyrics are banal and his vocals themselves don't have much flare or originality to them.
I do however, really like the music, that is, the instrumentation. It would be much better without Manson over the top of it.

The music feels fresh, just the vocals feel old and tired.

Maybe it'll grow on me but that's my initial thoughts.

Was looking for a cheap chillout album on Amazon to use my mp3 credit with. Not a bad mix of tracks actually.

Here's an example track (kinda cool since the maker of the song commented on the vid too):

Just discovered Action Bronson this morning after my brother put a couple of his albums on my iPhone for me to hear. This guy is bloody fantastic.

These guys went under my radar but I randomly saw them on the Billboard chart top 10 (wtf?! how?!) and a guy whose taste I trust on rdio had listened to them so I gave it a shot.. whoa! Awesome record.

Joy Division - Heart and Soul - I picked this up for $25 used at my local record store. It looked brand new and I couldn't believe how cheap it was. This set makes me realize they could have easily made a couple more albums out of their unreleased material.

Beach House - Teen Dream - Listening to this in anticipation for Bloom. I never really listened to it when it first came out, but I am fixing that immediately. So good.

Beach House - Bloom - Feels a lot like Teen Dream, but I feel like it's a little louder and more upbeat.

Trust - TRST - One of my picks for worst album art of the year. It's absolutely terrible. Good thing the music is so good.

Jack White - Blunderbuss - I like the mix of songs on the album. There's a few weak tracks towards the end, but overall the album is good.

Death Grips - The Money Store - My other pick for worst album art of the year. Not sure how I feel about the album. "Hacker" is one of my favorite songs so far this year, but besides "Get Got", I'm not really feeling the rest of the songs.

Currently too lazy to get album art.

Torche - Harmonicraft
Beach House - Bloom
Little Chords - Afterlife
La Sera - Sees the Light
oOoOO - Our Loving is Hurting Us
Tours - Stay
Lone - Galaxy Garden
Sqaurepusher - Ufabulum
Badbadnotgood - BBNG2
Del The Funkee Homosapien - Root stimulation
Death Grips - The Money Store

I have a big backlog too, damn it.

Beach House pretty much non stop. Teen Dream was by far my favorite album of the year 2 years ago, and somehow they just keep marching foward. The entire album is beautiful and it's scary to think that I may actually like Bloom more than Teen Dream...but the strength of those first 3 songs is remarkable.

El-P's solo is also dominating in play count. The first half of that album puts it above most of the rap albums I've heard all year.

Best Coast is a very nice and sweet palate cleanser for me. She's sexy, has a sweet voice, and sings about California. I didn't think she'd ever go straight up pop, but I'd be lying if I said this was bad. It's a straightforward well produced pop album and that's pretty awesome. I never thought her voice was that memorable but she almost sounds like Neko Case on some of these songs, and that's alright with me.
