Anyhow, never heard of that Roth guy before, didn't feel somehow out of place for me while watching.

I felt that Brad Pitt was unnecessary and completely paled in comparison to other parts of the cast and Jamie Fox feels like a similar choice now.

Adam Sandler would have been amazing. Imagine him coming out of the tunnel in the introduction scene.

Seriously? I don't think his character was going to be in the film for more than a few minutes IIRC the script.

I think he was supposed to be one of the slaver brothers in the beginning that Schultz kills to free Django.

I'm not sure where I heard that from though, it might have been mentioned on an earlier page. Either way, him missing a spot for a role like that doesn't get me down.

I've never been a huge Foxx fan. He's not terrible by any means in the few things I've seen him in, but idk.

Still, Inglorious Basterds is one of my favorite movies of all time, so that makes this my 2nd most hyped movie right now behind The Hobbit.

Yes, when you put people who aren't actors in a film, they tend to act poorly.

Not to mention he doesn't scare anyone except fictional girls who are tied up in torture porn films.

Well not always, look at David Bowie in Prestige. But that could just be the exception

I'll have to watch IB again and fully pay attention to Eli now, since many of you agree he wasn't the best

Good poster, but a title made out of the chains would have been hot.

Also:

IB > JB > PF > RD > KB1 >> KB2 >>>> DP

Fucking love the man; he gets a lot of flak on the internet, as much of that has he does love, but in my eyes he's got almost a perfect track record. Death Proof is poor, KB2 is great, everything else is god tier.

I was never a huge fan of QT, always thought his movies were overrated, but IB was sensational.

Looking forward to this one... what a badass cast.

New movie by Alfonso Cuaron also, and it's sci-fi.

And apparently it opens with a 17-minute uninterrupted shot. Fuck?

Ohmahgawd. :D

Directly on topic, is DiCaprio playing the absolutely evil guy people have mentioned in script reviews? Someone compared this character to Judge Holden from Blood Meridian in his contempt for humanity, so I'm really interested to see who plays the role.

Official synopsis:

Quote:
Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…

Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, DJANGO UNCHAINED is produced by Stacey Sher, Reginald Hudlin and Pilar Savone. The executive producers are Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012, and internationally by Sony Pictures.

Leo's role seems markedly different enough from his past ones that he's probably a shoo-in for an Oscar nod. Academy digs actors playing against type. I'm sure he'll be absolutely fantastic in it as well, regardless.

All I ask is for no fourth wall breaking exposition about useless shit like how to develop film in the 1940s.

Those completely unnecessary sequences really ruined Inglourious Basterds. Were they in the original script, or did the films pacing just not work with a Hugo Stiglitz prison break in the middle of it?
