Leo in a Tarantino movie, who would've thought.

Too bad Will Smith pussied out, my love for him went down a whole lot.

Gotta be for Whitta. He wants what Denzel had.

I was hoping it was for a Wild, Wild, West sequel. One can dream :(

That's fine. QT usually has to cut out some cameos, so I'm assuming they were on the cutting board.

Kurt Russell wasn't a cameo. The role in the script was pretty decently sized.

Don't think it's true. QT having KR in his movies is the biggest thing that can and has ever happened to him in the past few or so years.

Yeah having read the script it's a notable enough part that they couldn't just cut his scenes. Can't remember who SBC was playing though, if it was Scotty I'm surprised they're not recasting that as well

Quote:
Director Quentin Tarantino must have written a doozie of a role for a certain Django Unchained character; not only has Kevin Costner left the picture, but now Kurt Russell has exited as well. Both veterans were slated to play the role of Ace Woody, a villainous character who trains slaves to fight each other for public amusement. Granted, the role isn’t feel-good like Man of Steel’s Pa Kent or Miracle’s Herb Brooks, but it’s a Tarantino flick; no one gets out unscathed. Costner had previously cited scheduling difficulties for his departure from Django Unchained, but Russell’s camp has yet to provide a reason. Slightly concerning is the fact that with a December 25th release date, there hasn’t been a replacement announced just yet.

Obviously I don't know what's going on behind the scenes but I can't help feeling that Russell and Costner pussied out.

Someone like Hugo Weaving, who's not afraid of tough roles, but with a "western look" needs to step up.

You never drop out or say no to any of them especially when your career is deteriorating. Ever! If Kurt Russel did drop out, his career is pretty much over. It was already over and QT has been trying to resurrect it.

Oh well...

Why Kurt Russel why? This was your only shot at the John Travolta in Pulp Fiction moment: Great star fallen into obscurity only to be resurrected by Tarantino, and you blew it.

Will never understand the Death Proof hate. Well actually, I sort of do understand it but I disagree with it. I only like 2 Tarantino movies and that's one of them. Pulp Fiction being the other.

Wonder what the deal with this role is, should get Harvey Kietel in.

I liked Death Proof a lot myself. One person calling it a shitfest does not make it so. The reason it didn't do much for his career is two fold. One is that his character was a creepy murderous stalker who is emasculated at the end of the movie. The other is that it didn't do very well at all in the box office and therefore not many people saw it.

Just because Death Proof is in last place on my list doesn't mean its complete shit. All his movies I like but, it's not the best QT movie for me. Kill Bill & Reservoir Dogs flip/flop on my list too. But damn, I love me my Tarantino movies!

I liked Deathproof. I guess people don't like it because it does take a while to pick up. It can come off as a bit pretentious and the characters trying to be too cool and into themselves. Then again, Jungle Julia was meant to be kind of bitchy.
