Posting a link because pic is NSFW due to a big 'ol flaccid dong.

Anyway, was going through some old stuff and found some of my long exposure series to re-process. This was shot at around 3am on the cliffs above lake mead in the NV desert.

Here's another shot that I took recently that came out alright. I took this after my CS class, the weather's been rainy and crummy all week here in NY.

Aurongel, It's a nice shot!

I hope you don't mind but I grabbed it to tweak it a bit. I pulled the black point down and adjusted the color and shadows a bit.

I've included the settings from aperture so you can get an idea.

You've got a good eye. keep it up!

What a difference it makes! Personally, I like the simplicity of just taking a nice picture in the moment. I don't like touching up afterwards. I feel like I'm cheating lol. But that's just me. Maybe I should, considering the amazing results I see here!
Here's another one I like:

After all, you could say selecting B&W or Sepia is cheating too!

My first sharing. Not good yet, still using it with point and shoot mode and manual focus when it won't give me what I envision. Quoting for size (its smaller in quote block for me on Chrome, hope its not too big for the rest of you).

Anyone use 500px? I uploaded a pic this morning thinking I'd be happy if 2 people viewed it, but I have 1k hits and my email is flooded with alerts from the site. Is it normal to get a lot of traffic?

I don't use it personally but one of my friend was saying the site kind of promotes new users so they tend to get more hits initially then taper off; or something along those lines.

Edit: nvm, thought u were a new user.

I use it (http://500px.com/aidanmoher), and that traffic is unusual. I think my highest visited photo has about 350 views, though I'm far from a popular user on the service.

Does anybody here scan their own negatives/slides? I used to shoot a lot of 120 (645) film but stopped when I quit my job to school full time. Now I can afford to get back into it and want to shot and scan my film before it gets old. I'm thinking getting an Epson V500, but it's hard to find reviews on it worth reading.

I have an Epson V500 and I'm using it to scan and digitally archive old family photos (slides and 35mm film) as well as my own 35mm photographs. So far I think it works well. Only issue I have had is when the film is curved I will sometimes get a weird rainbow effect along certain parts of the image when I try to scan. I can usually correct this by resetting the film in the holder and scanning again. If the film is nice and flat though it works great. It does take a while to scan a full set of 35mm film especially if you use the "Digital Ice Technology" to remove dust and scratches. I have scanned hundred of photos so far and I have been happy with the results I can get.

Here are a couple of images I scanned with the V500.

Thanks! Almost all of my work is done in Photoshop, but there isn't much there that couldn't also be replicated in Lightroom. I really enjoying trying out new techniques and experimenting, which is basically how I've learned everything I know. Still, feels like there's always more to learn and discover.

Glad you enjoy the photos.
