If this block comes back the ad men are going to be royally pissed the fuck off. They like the animation world as it is now. There happy as clams that Disney beat Nick finally in the ratings.

Adding Toonami to a Saturday Morning/Late Night Block dont hurt them, but take a web and outdoor planning if they do it will piss off them off because they want nothing to do with the genre nor action animation with rare exceptions and web thing if done the way i slated will make a fuckton of money for those that want the shows but dont want the whole cable box.

Why do you think that? I'm pretty sure a large chunk of Toonami's Saturday night is already action stuff from what I've heard, but I'm pretty sure that advertisers aren't going to care as long as the ratings are good.

That and you actually gain a larger demographic than Cartoon Network has now, meaning young adults, and older males. Meaning, more than one adult male will see those ITT Tech commercials when they play.

It's a win, win, win, win.

I would like to know how as well.

I'm still not getting your point exactly. Are you saying they'd be "mad" because CN would get higher ratings on Saturday Nights, or what?

That, and I think Disney cartoons and Toonami's programming would have a lot different demographics, with Toonami's being much broader though.

Oh when I say the ad men that dont want Toonami back. I mention the people who work for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim for there advertisments and promotional work. There called BRS i think and they have been working some what with the live action side. They dislike the action side and promote the comidic side like crazy.

Either way, nobody that knew anything would be on any forum, even Neogaf, talking about it if they did.

its all about how much money can make. See there has been a move to preschool stuff because there are a lot of moms that need bottles, wipes and clothes for the kiddies. Nothing wrong with that. But that used to be a very small part of the business. Now its nearly half. The WWE has not diversified to the ad mens liking despite how successful Cena is to Vince. A majority of male toys didnt sell outside a select few *AHEM* and a majority on the shelfs are female toys and other trinkets. As much has CN has gotten boys - its has been older males more into video games. It took 16 years for Nick to finally lose to Disney in the overall ratings and the ad men are happy as clams...

But to be honest - IMO Toonami if they do the things i think there planning can be a game changer for the next generation. Maybe it would do what the FGC has been doing for a while - unify otaku and geek fanbases, and improve them both and maybe the business model in many aspects of the entertainment biz.

They are but so are Comedy Central and MTV. Just imagine if MTV was on all day and changed to Comedy Central at say 9. Two channels sharing the same channel space.

Well I don't know their corporate structure but there is probably a head of each division who answer to somebody or a group of people in charge of the overall channel space.

That's weird. So was AS just like a pet-project of CN at first, or was it always its own thing?

actually, anime is a loan word from france. The Japanese call moving pictures Doga - thats why you have the word Toei - Doga on many early anime works. The reason why the name stuck is because of the French-Canadian coproductions with studios like Topcraft and the like and the Original DIC.

It's like Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite. They're both on the same channel, but for ratings, they're considered to be two different networks.

It was originally a block of programming on certain nights(kind of like Cartoon Cartoon Fridays); in 2005 they made it it's own network specifically for ratings purposes.

While it was great watching Toonami last weekend after all those years; I think Toonami should be left in the past. I hope that if does come back that it will be a huge success, and that it lives up to what everyone wants. But after all of these years of CN/Williams Street/Adult Swim mishandling anime I just don't see happening.

When did Williams Street mishandle the animes? As far as I know the network was always responsible for the higher tier decisions that put Toonami steadily on the decline.

When they got on that live action kick on Adult Swim, and the anime, when AS was airing new episodes of Code Geass and Moribito back in '08, got pushed back to 4:00 am.

Edit: I guess I don't know if that was their decision or the network's, but it still pisses me off thinking about.

Adult Swim became a really different beast back then didn't it? I'm not sure exactly, but I remember them basically going from a lot of animes like Inuyasha, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Cowboy Bepop, turning into Tim and Eric, Family Guy, all the Tim and Eric spin-offs. I remember that Auqua Teen was there as long as I can remember though, same goes for some other shows that got cancelled.

They basically went from half-funny and half anime, to full on funny.

I personally blame their decision to air shows that rely on the "every episode ends in a cliffhanger" style without being able to air the shows in a single run. When durararara, Code Geass, and FMA brotherhood went on hiatus I went to Hulu/Crunchyroll to finish watching them and never bothered again with watching it on AS.

Back in the days anime used to be on Sunday, then he got pushed out of Sunday and Saturday became new anime night, Sunday new comedy and comedy and anime split the weekdays. Soon enough anime got pushed off of weekdays, and Saturday became anime night with Toonami leading into Adult Swim. Then Toonami died and the first hour became comedy, at one point comedy had to 2AM on Saturday which made people believe it was about to die. With some of the newer anime it got back to midnight and after.

The current lineup is really weird on Adult Swim. Some of the shows are pretty good (Venture Bros., Children's Hospital), but others I honestly don't know who watches. People say they're for the stoner crowd, but they aren't even amusing when you're high.

I hope they ignore the T.O.M v4 thing and just continue with v2 or v3 when it comes back on.
