Likely because of the shutter speed of the optics on the prototype. Outdoors you can get away with a lot during the day.

Google's patents show a version that would work with actual glasses: ![]() And the normal version:

And having a phone in your pocket would mean constantly streaming live video to the goggles, probably not as efficient power-wise as just putting the processor onto the goggles. |

At this point, we really don't know much about it except that it's awesome! |

I mean srsly. From what everybody is saying about KS, they can just take the 10mil and retire on Bahamas beach. They don't own anyone anything. ( People are mistaking KS reward with pre-order in this case, I believe. If they fail to deliver, I can see a class lawsuit coming against the pebble guys AND KS. That will be interesting. )

You might be thinking about the trade dress claim with samsung/apple where they were showing prior art through star trek and that 1990s tablet. Those are patents for looks only (though there shouldn't be wtf). |

Didn't Google admit a few days back that Project Glasses doesn't look anything like that demo video at this point? I got a lot less excited when I heard that. |

The photographic potential is interesting - often times I'll see something awesome, but realize by the time I get my phone out, switch to camera and take the picture - it will be too late (Once I saw a hawk dive bomb a pigeon mid air).
I understand why they are only talking about one feature at a time (bringing everything out at once vs trickle information strategy) but I really hope they start giving us more than just pictures soon, so far I am pretty on board, but I need that to be solidified with practicality. |

What about the idea of a glass-mounted camera? No fancy HUD, AR stuff, just the camera. Is that worth a Kickstarter? (say for 100 bucks).

If it was a bluetooth headset, with a camera, and voice to text messaging - MAYBE. |

Now, all of this said, I'm very intrigued by the possibilities and want to see what they've got in store for us, it just sounds like we're a long way off from what the video showed and I'm not personally all that excited about photos and video shot from the thing. |

Reminded me a bit of The Final Cut. I know we won't be able to record 24/7, but the day where recording our entire live POV style is closer than ever. Also, where is the video file being stored?
I'm guessing it's a streaming YouTube upload over 3G or it's being saved onto a micro SD card or something. Do we know specifics on that, though? |
