Hope it hits EU PSN.

I've played both P3P and FES, but FES still stands out as the definitive version of P3, especially for first time players.

Depends on the game, but P4 upscaled nicely for me.

Hoping that Nocturne and the two DDS games are next in line!

I played Persona 3 FES and while it isn't my favorite in the series, it's still a solid RPG. Good to hear that this game would be accessible for everybody, RPG fans should defitely swipe this up.

Koei published P3 FES in Europe. I don't think there's much chance of getting it next week in Europe even if you started smashing down the doors at Koei's office right now.

The only chance we have is if Atlus actually told Koei of their intention to release P3 FES in the US a while ago to allow them to prepare.

I'll be happy to see it here but I'm really not holding my breath this week...

So will it be in HD or not? Was previous PS2 ports like God Hand in HD?

Also, has it been confirmed that it will be $10.

No, it's not in HD. Aren't all PS2 classics 9.99?

I would double dip if I wasn't already going to do that when I get a Vita with P3P. For ten bucks I might do it anyway.

Oh my. Just might get. How do these PSN PS2 games look on a widescreen TV? As long as it runs in 16x9. PS2 games just don't look good on my HD monitor. Shucks these PS2 PSN releases don't have demo's.

Awesome news, nice to see Atlus making full use of the PS2 Classics line. Will likely double-dip on this, but have no idea when I'd get a chance to play through it again; also still would like to get P3P since I never played it.

Shame I won't be able to use my old PS2 save that I had. Beaten The Journey so many times. Never gotten around to The Answer. Haven't turn on my PS2 in months. Maybe this time, I'll finish the tale as Aigis. Still got the $5.99 from Sony around Nov/Dec so yea.
Not able to control your party members isn't a deal breaker. I just dealt with it in vanilla P3. I have to carry the party. The definitive version if you want closure on the story. P3P if you want a female POV with battle mechanics from P4.
People get to experience the joy of fighting Elizabeth. :)

that's the problem with full price digital titles...they will go on sale at some point, so it sucks when you really want a game right then and there and you buy it knowing you are ripping yourself off.

Yeah I bought P3P at $40 too. But if I hadn't, I wouldn't know what I know now about the game! And I wouldn't be as far as I am. And I probably would have wasted the time playing some shitty web game at work or reading GAF. That extra $$$ was well worth it for me :p

If you become a fan like me, you can always play both P3P and P3 FES.

P3P has an optional female main character which means a bunch of new, exclusive social links, which almost equals to half a new game to me. Very good stuff. Also, the improvements in gameplay mechanics.

Say what you will about The Answer, but this FES story expansion is canonical to the story and actually has a few repercussions in future Persona games (such as Persona 4: Arena). Not critical to play, but you'll want to if you care about the overall story. Also, a series of boss battles in FES has the second best boss battle theme music in the Persona series.

It's hard to say which one to play first, I went P3P->FES but I think either way is fine.

Remember, this post only applies if after playing whichever game you choose first you become an unconditional fan of the series.

P3FES has an epilogue that P3P doesn't.

P3FES is also generally harder (you can't directly control teammates in combat, there are no skill cards, etc) but you also get 3d animation and anime cutscenes and stuff.

Er. I read your post wrong. I think they're both worth playing for various reasons. P3P is more fun combat IMO (controlling teammates) and you get bonus s-links and story stuff thru female version. FES is tougher and has an epilogue.

I have FES (though no ps2 anymore) but I got P3P to make up for it. Still need to decide if the FES extra stuff is worth the 10 bucks.

If only they could find a way to insert Japanese voices.... if only... I'd buy three copies!!

I never got around to buy FES, considering that I still have a working Ps2 which one would be a better choice, buying this or the Ps2 version? Does these Ps2 classic games offer any kind of improvement at all? Like a better image quality on HDTVs instead of connecting a Ps2 through RGB. I don't have an HDTV so I don't know much about this...

Not again....I just purchased P3P digitally when Atlus dropped the price. That makes 4 times I've purchased this game: P3, P3FES, P3P(UMD), and now P3P(Digital).

I think I'll hold off on the the PS2 Classics P3FES. Gotta draw the line somewhere!

The PS2 version goes for around $50 on Amazon the last time I checked. I highly doubt you'll be able to find it for less than the $9.99 they'll ask for on PSN. Also, you can have more of your games on a single machine, which is always nice IMO.

Man it would be great if Sony somehow found a way that we can store our old PS2 games on our PS3. Maybe a 1X only download per title on a single account. I would pay $1-3 for it per game as well. Maybe if you own a game, in this case if you own Persona 3 FES on disk you can DL it to your HDD if you buy it again on the PSN for $1-3. It would save me so much space and wouldn't have to cycle through 500+ PS2 games.

PSN version is always better to have. It will look a bit better on a HDTV since the ps3 has HDMI output and smooths out the jaggies.

It's currently $25+ on amazon.com and £10+ on .co.uk for a new copy, it's not that bad.

Also I have a 40Gb Ps3 so the game size is an issue more than it would be an advantage having it ready to boot at any time :p
I plan on upgrading to 250Gb as soon as HDD prices go back down, but I'm a little worried about the health of my Ps3 so I don't think I'll get to it soon...

My memory card has been stuck in my Ps2 since 2002, only 3 years ago I had to buy another one to make more space, so that's not really an issue...

Also wired/wireless controller doesn't make much difference to me, it's true that wireless is more "free" but there are batteries to recharge!

Persona 3 FES has been sub-30 dollars for new copies online for quite awhile. Years.
