the actual release is new.

will post screens from my 2008 unibody so everyone can suffer like me, if it survives. I got it to an unstable 60fps on my windows partition last summer. \m/

Did you use a gamepad or KB+M? I'm curious as to how I might set up a gamepad on this here Macintosh.

KB+M for sure. the combat is just timed mouse clicks and I can't imagine going through this game's menus with a pad would be any fun. I only played about an hour, it can't be good for my macbook to play it! I have heat marks on the inside of my case from trying to run games like this.

Definitely KB/M. There's no way The first Witcher wouldn't be hell with a gamepad. That inventory.

If you plan on partaking in everything the game has to offer, it'll be a long time before you see the world of Xenoblade again.

I'll be very curious to see how these compare preformance-wise. I just installed The Witcher in Windows 7 on my new-used 2010 Macbook to see how it ran, and now I can see how it handles on OSX

The prologue may put you off, not the least because of the rather dull combat (click, wait, click...), but be sure to give the game a chance. Soon enough everything will click and you'll love it.

Why does your steam UI look a bit different than mine? Buttons have different icons and the such.

Also, will try out on my 13" Mid-2010 MBP soon.

I'm using the PixelVision skin.

Edit: Oh, straight from that thread:

:( "Untested" doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, though.

It's really one of the best RPG ever. Just try to move past the prologue.

Double dipped yesterday just after the keynote. I'm playing on a late 2009 27-inch iMac Radeon HD 4670 256 MB VRAM with graphics set to Medium at 1600x1200 and it runs fine.

trying to understand everything... its not running too bad I had to drop the settings a bit but the only thing is an issue is my trackpad being broken

Are you using the trackpad? I don't even own a mouse anymore, heh. I've been meaning to get one for D3 but I still haven't worked out what I want to buy.

Whoawesome! Played about two hours on my MBP 2010 15'. There definitely was some framerate hitching, and all the settings were on Medium but it felt soooo good. Finished the Prologue, and definitely going to play this before the sequel. I was using the trackpad, but it still feels a bit strange to Right click to cast spells, while trying to chain attacks with the left. Loved every second thus far, these next two weeks shall be all Witcher-esque!

yeah my trackpad is a little broken one side has sunk in a bit but it still works
I would rather use a mouse but this game is interesting so far

Saw a post on Inside Mac Games that it uses an old Wineskin engine, and that you can bump performance up by replacing that component.

I know nothing of wineskins and whatsits, but am curious.

So the GAF hivemind says the game is worth getting?

I thought it was running some kind of emulation because it crashed on me once and the error message was a Windows-style one. I'll try it out with the latest engine and see whether it improves anything.

Runs quite well on my MacBook Pro at 1680x1050 with medium settings.

Edit: Just tried swapping out the wineskin file and now it crashes, even when I switch it back. Time to download all 10GB again and wait for some instructions.

it works pretty well for me but anyone know where the save files are on this?
I would like to see if older save files you download online can work

never used wineskin sounds interesting if you can get better performance

I have to see a day aside for grinding

Question: if someone you dies during your quest you know those escort missions do they return? I was trying to get this girl home and got so close but she got killed
I have not checked at the location at night where I saw her needing help

I'm kinda worried that his game is once you failed a quest its gone

Yes: I have an early 2011 MacBook, 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2 GB of memory and a Geforce 320M internal gfx chip. At the lower settings, it runs acceptably at the kind of framerate that would not work for a twitchy shooter, but is tolerable in an RPG. Still, 10GB is a heck of a download just to see if it'll run on your machine!

For some reason, Lion hides the Library folder. To get to it, go to the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key (all sorts of menu items change when you hold down option, not that anybody told me this).

it is hiding all the contents of the witchier app it is very frustrating
I want to see if mods can work on with this version but I cannot search

I restarted my computer and the windows that were open loaded up again and showed every file in the content folder closed the folder all the files go invisible again lol

I also have GTA from stream on this computer and they have a rockstart folder in documents but no folder for the Witcher or CDProjekt
