Not sure if serious but... Factor 5.5, the developer, died pretty much because of that game.
But I kinda of agree with you, game had some rough spots, but it was fairly enjoyable and undeservingly shitted upon. After the "2 jobs", $599, etc etc the PS3 needed a Jester to be the laughing stock of the console, Lair was it.

If you really need a sequel to this game, I hear that Guardians of Ga'Hool (a movie tie-in game for the movie about those owls that fought in midair) is pretty similar.
I gave Lair a fair chance and it is entertaining, but it's far too flawed to really recommend it. It's kind of sad to try and guess what they were trying to pull off, cause some of the ideas seemed pretty neat (basically, helping turn the tide in big scale land battles with your dragon). edit: also on ps3 fuck that name, though |

Probably never, which is a shame because the sequel probably could have been awesome. Don't get me wrong, the first game had a shit ton of problems but man, I loved the idea of dragon flying and the look of the world. Shame the execution of just about everything was off.
The soundtrack is really amazing if you haven't listened to it before- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1DX-...eature=related |

That game could have been so good if it was just made to simply live up to its name.
If it was a game about some old dragon stripped of its former glory, living in some crappy cave, and willing to rise to power again. You'd fly to villages, towns and scary places where you'd fight against forts, monsters, wizards, other dragons. You'd kill them and steal their loot and magical ornaments, which you'd bring back to your *gasp* Lair, and decorate it with it. The more your lair grows impressive looking, the more your power grows. Then you'd have people bringing you virgin maidens you'd have working as slaves, brave warriors trying to save those maidens, that you'd have to battle etc. This would probably be simpler to make than their somewhat open world engine too, but leave it to Factor 5 to make a crappy looking, boring reskin of their Star Wars games, and try to sell that as something brand new. |

And that was exactly why I disliked Lair so much. They didn't evolve at all, they just kept churning out the same game but with prettier graphics. It would've been a hell of a lot more fun if it was in some way dynamic but it wasn't and it sucked. It was the same old crap where all the objectives had a time limit and if you missed one, game over. Hell, they couldn't even let go of the bloody rope trip trick. Oh and FYI but Sony took the brunt of Lair's sales disaster. Factor 5 didn't close down till their Superman game was cancelled. |

It was a critical and commercial failure. Those do not often get sequels.
Also, the fact that you really like it is incredibly disturbing and you may want to consider giving up video games. |

Never Forget.
Factor 5 is gone. Really, isn't the new Starhawk supposed to be the same kind of game, only good? Lair was a shining example of how "bulletpoint" launch titles are a complete joke. What's the point of 1080p and obligate Six-axis gameplay if the framerate blows and the maneuvering is imprecise?

Lair is enjoyable. I have no idea why that game is hated and considered shit. It is not the best game ever but there are far worse games than lair that has sequels.
I don't think the reason is sixaxis since the game controls worse and is less enjoyable with the analog controls. |
