Because some right wing radio hosts gave their opinion on the case.

Don't try and separate yourself from them. You're part of the problem now. Just accept your role as a Zimmerman defender from here on out.

His lawyers resigned yesterday because Zimmerman stopped answering their calls.

If I remember correctly, the Repubs actually issued statements in support of Trayvon, then they fell back after the Fox News crowd started to prosecute Trayvon for being black.

I agree. Everyone should stop trying to turn this story into a political one. Just because some political opportunists try and make it so, doesn't mean we should follow suit on this forum. Everyone can just be happy this case is progressing through the legal system.

I have a feeling that the proper evidence wasn't gathered at the scene and that the phone call of a man (probably Trayvon) yelling help won't be enough to convict him. This is a positive step in any case.

So black people want a murder to be brought to justice and white people him to go free? That's the narrative everyone's going with now? I must have missed that over all the cries of outrage of every single white person I know.

Why are there conflicting reports on this? Is she announcing charges or not?

Edit:
"Updated at 2:39 p.m. ET] George Zimmerman “will be (criminally) charged if (he) hasn’t been charged already,” according to a senior law enforcement source familiar with the Trayvon Martin death investigation."

There we go.

This is an example why I hate Republicans and why you should too. They simply take contrarian stances on things that shouldn't even be partisan issues and they turn them into partisan issues. And then Fox News basically convinces the right wing base to adopt the same position and you have a substantial portion of the country defending a cold blooded murderer as a result.

Don't worry, ABC has confirmed it

Quote:
A Florida special prosecutor has decided to charge neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in the shooting death of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, sources told ABC News.

The circumstances that make this a "political" issue is that why as a society did it take ALL THIS just to charge a man that admitted shooting a child who did nothing wrong?

Zimmerman and his family are making it a political one with their comments. They have been trying to make the case for weeks that they are being unfairly attacked by left leaning base and media and have been reaching out in a broad stroke to the right wing media. His talk with Hannity alone yesterday (or at least recently) puts these facts into place. I know for a fact that most right wing people that I know are out raged by the case, but even they are starting to get 'turned around' because of segments of the right wing media and politicians going out of there way to stand up for Zimmerman, and even recently I have seen some people try defend or limit the damage to Zimmerman due to this comments from the pundits of the world. It shouldn't be a political issue but because of some people's persecution complexes it has turned into one.

The reaction to OJ Simpson's acquittal was the result of a couple things.

1. Mark Fuhrman. An investigating detective on the OJ Simpson case. The issues with him and his conduct on the case were notable. First, he entered the Simpson estate in Brentwood without a warrant, under the exigent cirumstances that he thought Simpson had attemtped suicide.

2. Johnny Cochran. Johnny planted the seed in public opinion, since this trial was aired over news channels, that Mark Fuhrman planted the singture bloody glove on the Simpson premises. He also alleged that Fuhrman was a racist due to his consistent usage of the word "nigger." And co counsel F. Lee Bailey got Fuhrman to contradict himself on his usage of the word.

This made the case a racial issue. (Johnny Cochran was brilliant in this sense. Pandering, but brilliantly pandering.) Due to the hisotry with the black community and the LAPD, such as the Ramparts division, Rodney King, the black community was very suspicious of the LAPD. And OJ, was kind of a price at the time. Heisman winnder. ex NFL great, movie star etc. So it became, an issue of another black man being railroaded by The Man.

So, when OJ was acquitted, even though yeah he probably killed those two people, it was the popular perception that they were just happy that a black person got one by on the system. In retribution for past screwings. The perception was the white community's reaction was disproportional in their outrage of the murder acquittal, and that disproportionate anger was due to latent racism,

Sometimes people do some really stupid things. We already know the police wanted to charge Zimmerman, but the states attorney stepped in and stopped it. That one states attorney does not make an entire society corrupted.

The wrong is now being corrected.

Let's be honest with ourselves. Political opportunists have used this issue on the left as well. I've watched MSNBC shows with my own eyes and seen them paint this issue as a "left vs right" topic, even though it's not. People on both sides of the political media machine like to create wedge topics for their audiences. Unfortunately this story became a tool for that machine.
