I think people are misunderstanding black people's reactions to OJ being found not guilty.
They weren't cheering because they believed that OJ was innocent of killing those two people. They were cheering because, for the first time in American history, a black person got away with murder! Disclaimer: The above was me being facetious. Anyway, I don't have any particular high hopes of Zimmerman being adequately held accountable for what he did, but hot damn, at least he's going to have to answer for it in a court of law, and hopefully all of his many variations of events that happened that night fall apart around him. We can at least stop bickering over the minute details, as it's up to the judicial system and the prosecuting and defending attorneys to do their job. I know what I feel about the case in my heart. I know what I feel about the case in my mind, using the facts present, but it's not up to me to decide Zimmerman's fate. Lucky him... |

It's not fantasizing. It's predicting based on evidence. We know the guy is a coward as evidenced by the crime and his disappearance.

why is everyone calling that this is justiced served? Did everyone forget about the american criminal system? You're innocent until proven guilty.
It's like all of you guys assume he's gonna be automatically convincted. Now imagine the flipside. If he gets found innocent on this, he can never be tried...AGAIN. EVER. |

Oh, and he admits killing Trayvon. So he is 100% proven to be a killer. |

The crime and outrage here was not arresting and charging him from the beginning. And the stupid police botching the investigation. |

I am, of course, invested in the end result - I hope he's found guilty - but this is enough to turn down the boiling pot of rage in my chest every time I hear the name "Trayvon Martin" or "George Zimmerman." |

I put my money on manslaughter in the old thread (which immediately got a couple of posters jumping down my throat) and I still think it's going to be manslaughter. And I think a WHOLE lot of people are going to be disappointed with the strength of this case, unless there's more damnning concrete evidence that we havent seen.

See, this is the difference between this case and OJ Simpson. In Simpson's case, we all 'knew he killed them,' but it wasn't really 100% known. In this case, we know 100% without a shadow of a doubt that Zimmerman pointed the gun at Trayvon, shot and killed him. He admits that much. No accidental shooting or anything like that. Zimmerman is 100% known to be a killer. The question is, will he be able to legally get away with murder due to police fuck up and a shitty law that very obviously needs to be scrapped or reworded? |

It looks bizarre in retrospect (I think you'll find that most sensible African Americans you meet nowadays will readily admit that he was guilty as hell), but these are the kind of things that happen when your harbor mistrust in the populace over decades. |

You under estimate the stupidity of the mass's. Or maybe I over estimate it. Either way someone is estimating shit some where.

Man, that pic of the guy in jail with the "Reserved for Zimmerman" sign: LOL. Even the inmates will be gunning for him. I'm sure Zimmerman will be wishing they had "got away" when he's locked up with them (hoping he's not acquitted, which is a real possibility, honestly). EDIT: Neojubei, I was in high school when that case happened, but I was mostly being facetious in my post. I think, at the time, I was happy, but truth told, I didn't really know why. I lived in Milwaukee, WI at the time, and the attitude from my family was "black guy being charged with murder got acquitted! holy shit!"
