Unfortunately, the OS and app features are the things I'm the least optimistic about. I don't trust nintendo to create an intuitive and UI or online store given their track record. They also seem to have the absolute worst response time when it comes to approving and certifying smaller pieces of software. And in a lot of ways, they keep NoA and NoE on way too short of a leash, I don't see them giving them the amount of control necessary to have the steady stream of app software support. I expect it to be a trickle, like 1 app a month, and often times be things nobody cares about whatsoever. I really hope they prove me wrong, I really do...

He's mah boy, but some of you guys take this stuff too seriously.
I mean yes some of the media writing off Nintendo before they've announced anything is irritating. But who cares? If you're going to get worked up over anything on the internet make it be on something worthwhile. Gender inequality around the world, massive wealth disparities between those in the same countries and then the massive gulf with the rest of the world, elections used to placate the masses while having few discernible effects, or the fact that our very economic system is based on fiction. Little slips of paper that have no real meaning other than what we give it. Only worth anything if we think it is. Videogames are fun time wasters. But there's some real shit to get irritated about out there. |

I recently went to my friends house to check out his wii. I was generally impressed. It was larger than I expected though.

They will however need to make a system attractive to developers so that the 'next big thing' can debut or at least be day-one-or-close on Wii U too. Essentially I think it's important to create an ecosystem of apps that can hold its own against iOS. It doesn't need to be a free for all like that with all the shit, but it does need to be open enough so that stuff that's good/popular can get on it fast. Man, what killed BY2K?

Honestly, it was probably like I said. A build up thing. He kept getting on someones nerves and it culminated in a single post that pissed them off completely. I have no illusions that is what happened with mine. Because my last few posts weren't even close to the worst I had posted. Being completely honest. But it was one time too many in a particular mods thread.
It happens. I just hope it wasn't his last. I was actually thinking more blue ball than brown eye. |
