Prefers her Trek sans Abrams

This thread made me think back and realize that the only Firefight-like encounter I ever look forward to in a Halo campaign is the final fight on NMPD HQ.
The space mission in The Long Night of Solace is essentially Firefight in space. The second part of it is much better, though. |

Edit.: I should add that I installed the game on the Hard Drive.

5-10 sec load times? Eh. I should probably just build a pc but... I have so many other things I want to spend money on :/
There's your early Sunday morning depressing fact for y'all. |

Vanilla launch Reach > Halo 3
I was thinking of how annoying jetpacks are and I saw this post on Tumblr about these flying lizards and I started to think how much better it would be if they just had a glider in the game instead of a jetpack. ![]() ![]() ![]() Didn't Shadowrun have a glider? |

You dont feel the same way!??
Reach feels awful to me, I constantly get bloodshots, even when using the DMR, (that MLG game we played was ridiculous for the lag) Reach isnt as silky smooth as it was this time last year, and im not sure why. My connection of course plays a part, but even when its running well and other games are smooth Reach just has weird constant lag even when its green bar. I would say its on par with how Halo 3 feels these days. (Games with GAF I expect to be laggy, but even going in solo on matchmaking sucks, that was never really an issue before)

I give Halo 3 MLG the map edge for sure. Gameplay? Hmmmm I don't knowwwww.
Also, just went into the lab with the my MS first party custom no slow controller and the MLG Madcatz Pro Circuit controller. Pretty interesting stuff. Everything was done with 60fps recording. I know Reach runs at 30 but as long as it's consistent it's fine. Now, from a neutral stick on the controller to a full 360 degrees the MLG MadCatz Controller did the 360 in 1 second and 16 frames. The same test with the MS controller pulled it off in 1 second and 18 frames. After looking at the videos, it was clear that the Madcatz controller made up the time in the first 10 frames or so. Next test was with the screen paused while holding down the right stick in one direction. I was hoping this would eliminate the time it takes to move the stick from neutral to completely on one side. What I discovered was that the Madcatz controller did the 360 in 1 second and 16 frames. The exact same time it takes to do it from a neutral position. The MS controller? It also did it in 1 second and 16 frames. There are a lot of conclusions that can be drawn from this. The sticks on the Madcatz controller could be shorter or the circular gate could be smaller. Or the MS controller has a larger deadzone. I thought it was pretty interesting. It was clear in my video though that in the first 10 frames or the Madcatz controller was ahead of the MS controller. That could explain while people were so compelled to lower their sensitivities on their Madcatz controller. I however, never touched my settings. This was on 4 sens btw. |

I'm not having much problems lag wise, even when I play with Xand and he lives on the other side of the world. |

I can go play other games fine, its Reach which seems to be in a constant laggy state for me. I know others here have mentioned feeling the same way? |

Yeah I'm not getting any lag in Reach, in BTB parties or playing solo. Actually since I've swapped out my dysfunctional old cable modem and pried open my NAT via the most excruciating network tinkering of my life my connection has been sterling, especially for a wireless-N two floors up.

Trust me, W2 is a better game. If that's not what you're in the mood to play, that's fine, but it really is a better all round product. |

I give Reach a lot of shit but the netcode is incredible compared to the turd that is Halo 3. Hitscan and no spread only makes it better. |

I'm pretty tired of this save Halo stuff to be honest. The phrase itself. I think it's a little off base but I do appreciate the efforts gone into the movement. I'm excited to see the Halo community grow from grassroots. Hoping for one day when an MLG event featuring Halo isn't all that big of a deal.
