Edit: Also, what speed do you play on? Adjusting the speed can help a ton with reading note charts.

Alright finally got some time to put into this,
First time playing in a good while but here is my score for Supersonic: Rank: A Combo: 1265 Break: 4 Jud: 95.8 Bonus: 21063 Score: 273316 I actually forgot how much I like the track list for 3, it's not my favorite, but there really is alot of great stuff in this set. Man the wait for Techinika Tune is going to be killer. |

A tip to make entry into the modes that involve more buttons is to pay really close attention to the color of the falling notes and what button they are associated with. I remember that helping me a lot when I was starting. EDIT: Has anyone here purchased the Japanese version of Black Square? I'm curious if they removed auto-correct, which would be amazing.

Another reason to get Clazziquai, Black Square, or Portable 2. (Portable 1 is just 4/6/8, I think). |

You know what I noticed..when it comes to judgement, it shows the highest judgement you've gotten on that specific song and with that 99.4%, it happened during a run where I had 1 or 2 breaks. When I got the high score I posted up, I only had a 99.0%:

Been playing more Portable 3 lately.
Not the greatest songlist, but there are a few songs that stick out. My current favorite (which I just recorded) is: Waiting for the Sun 6B/NM Not a big fan of how this series handles freeze notes. You have to let go of the note right when it ends or else you'll get a penalty. They should really release all the other games on PSN to celebrate the upcoming release of Tune. Just some wishful thinking. |

I like Waiting for the Sun too :)
A few personal DJMP3 favs: Enemy Storm (Dark Jungle Mix) - Paul Bazooka mix The Rain Maker - Paul Bazooka Gone Astray - Makou Dream of Winds - XeoN ... It's a pity be going through hell to unlock them by pure luck and mindless grinding (Korean UMD patched, +6%Exp/-30Hp & +6%Exp/-30Hp crew and mirror mode, always on)... I've yet to unlock Enemy Storm, I can play it in mission mode only... :/

Sorry about that!
So Hinomura takes the crown. PM me or post your song of choice for Stepmaniaization, and I'll get right on it. Week 2's song is, as promised... ![]() Blythe (5B Mode, NM). I believe this should use the same scoring across versions, but if I'm wrong...well, we'll cross that bridge then! |

Welcome back cj_iwakura :)
Scoring is different among the Dj Max games; aside from boosts and tweaks, songs patterns are different too. By the way, I'd suggest focusing on PSN released games, since the other games are difficult to find and are UMD only, excluding a lot of Gaffers from the competition... Edit: damn, I've just discovered to have lost all the saves safe for djmp3 and fever :( oh well, time to grind again some hundreds hours...

DJMP2 - Blythe 5B NM
Score: 328085 Breaks: 0 Jud: 95.4% ![]() I leave to Hispanicguy or cj_iwakura the choice of the next DJMP3 track... I'd like something like 4.2T NB Ranger NonStopRemix (TS), but it could be not available from start without massive grinding, I don't remember... |

The Japanese version of Black Square, which was just recently released, got rid of the auto-correct feature that is in the original version of the game. Sadly, there is no patch to get rid of it if you have the original Black Square. The game is still great fun though.

I cant read Japanese, can I still play the game? Is there some language patch I can get online? |

It doesn't matter if you can't read Japanese. There really isn't anything to be read in any of the games. So if you want to import the Japanese Black Square, then go for it. I'd love to, but I can't really warrant the purchase because I already own the original Black Square. And once you get good enough, the auto-correct thing isn't really an issue.

My bad, my mind tricked me in thinking the reward was the choice of the compo next track. I know Stepmania, but I'm not interested in, sorry. I'll go on partecipating just for the challenge :)

Ahhhh, yes, one of my favourite game series of all time, ever since Fever came out in the US. Shame there's no mention of Trilogy in the OP...It has to be my personal top choice of all the games released. There's little hope for it, but I'm still craving another PC release.

Is there a list of songs for DJMAX Portable 2 with the levels we unlock them on (is it tied to levels anyway?)? I played a really nice song on a challenge that I don't think I have on my setlist and I want to know when I could unlock it...
I played a bit of Portable 3 and from what I've heard about its grind, I hoped it'll be better in previous games. Frankly, it doesn't feel that better - maybe there's more of a difference on higher levels? |
