I feel that the main story wasn't as good as some of those dreams, those dreams were really awesome, I think it's a missed opportunity, imagine if they let the players actually visit those towns from the dreams, it would make the npcs a lot more interesting because they might be related to those characters in the dreams.

I basically never see this mentioned in any "Games can be sad" threads, so am I seriously the only one who got serious throatlumps when (Uncharted 2) Flynn took out a grenade and everyone ran for cover, but clearly nothing's gonna happen because this is a happy funtime story but oh wait Elena is almost dead now. Game then giving you a gun and immediately putting you in charge of the escape effort with Elena and Chloe limping behind you was the best part of that damn game.

The ending of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 got the most tears out of me. That scene was so damn sad. It's part of the reason why I want HL3 so bad. I want to know what happens next.
Mass Effect 3 also got me a little teary eyed. Watching Thane and Anderson die got to me. |

I've experienced most of the moments talked about in this thread but none of them have made me cry.
Some parts of SOTC hit me, like I really appreciated the beauty of the game and its story telling but no tears. RPGs probably make me feel the most emotion but none have caused tears. I look forward to the day a game does make me cry though! Edit: Unwound Future was close! Man what an ending. Great stuff. |

Actually you can't really say "you know which scene" from MGS4 'cuz there were so many parts in MGS4 that made me emotional. Microwave? Big boss? Eva? Meeting up with Meryl? Intro? Outro? Shadow Moses?

Lost Odyssey. One of the stories
"Don't Forget me now, you hear?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5V2-qDvriA Suikoden III. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. ;.; This sorta sealed the deal with Chris being the best main character of the three, in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzZCrfNZ1HQ |

EDIT: Okay, reading through the thread has reminded me of others where I came close. FF7:CC - The ending. You know what to expect if you played FF7 but man, the music and the memory wheel thing and everything. Plus I really grew to like the guy thanks to the game. ME3 - Certain deaths. Spoiler "Had to be me. Someone else might've gotten it wrong.

OP, I advise you to play Skyrim with a Sony CMZ-T1 , combined with head-tracking.
You would cry for days. DAYS. I had cases of the lump in BG&E, SotC and Skyrim/Oblivion just by being in the world and hearing the majesty of the music combined with the beautiful scenery. |

I was wondering when the INTERNET TOUGHGUYS were going to start shitting up this thread. Every fucking time someone starts a thread, these assholes have to pop in and remind everyone how much of a badass they are and how pathetic everyone else is.
Anyways, I read about what happens to Aerith in FF7 from the strategy guide I purchased, but when it happened when I finally played the game it still hit me hard. I didn't exactly cry, but it really struck my heartstrings. The music in FF7 was so great, and really added so much more to the moment. |

I was in middle school when I beat Final Fantasy IX for the first time, and I cried during the part when Zidane more or less sacrifices himself in the end."
Not really sure when it's not really required to use spoilers, the game is two generations old, but who knows who I'll piss off. EDIT: Oh, also. Totally cried during OoT's ending. |

I have to admit that no game has been able to make me teary eyed, while many movies have. That is not to say games need to make me cry to be good as a medium, music while has not made me teary eyed, it has made me feel a wider range of emotions than the games I have played thus far since each peace can be enjoyed at bite size and they all vary greatly in terms of what emotions they convey. I think games definitely has the potential to make me teary-eyed or even cry, but it has not done so yet. Journey and SOTC made me feel things, but not bring me to tears. I am certain I will cry one day, and when I do it will be much more intense than even a film because immersion is getting deeper with games with each generation of new technology.

It was not just Big Boss saluting the gravestone and what just happened to the Boss. It was this playing in the background that kicked my ass.
It's hard to listen to without gettinig teared up. |

Haha I did the same thing
Seriously the ending of Unwound Future made me tear up :( The other ending that hit me was the ending of Crisis Core, Even though I knew Zack would die I just didn't expect to become so attached to his character |
