That book also contains the backstory for Weiss. He was a child soldier fighting the monsters formed the remains of the Queen Monstrosity at the end of Drakengard, because it was determined that children pumped full of drugs would be resistant to the transformation. In the meantime, the government figured out how to create Gestalts and Replicants and Grimoires. They herded up a bunch of child soldiers into a room full of black Grimoire Noir clones and forced them to kill each other; once they scored a kill, their souls were trapped in the books forever.
And Brother Nier in the Japanese version prior to the start of the game, whored himself out to an older man in Seafront for money for Yonah's medicine. When a Shade hunt was organized, the man was the leader and kept making humiliating innuendo in front of his friends regarding Nier. It's implied that Nier might have killed him in the confusion of the fighting because he was lost in anger, shame, and bloodlust. |

This is the part of the game that jumped the shark, If Kaz wasn't a moron and made sure the psychopath he just fought was actually down for the count, Rikiya would've lived. Moreover, why the fuck is Kaz crying over him anyway? He didn't shed a tear when his childhood sweetheart died in Yakuza 1 but is now bawling over some dude he met a month ago? |

I've never cried while playing a game (or watching movies, reading books etc.) but I did get the lump in the throat from Xenosaga III's ending scenes, and the Metal Gear Solid 3 epilogue.
How about the feeling of immense excitement that brings tears to the eyes? Plenty of scenes in MGS brought that feeling on, and Assassin Creed Revelation's Road to Masyaf. |

It contains interviews, a timeline, and a few other short stories, some of which were kinda poorly or un-translated last time I checked. Then there's one that has a rather... risque section at its climax (lol), and the cut Ending E.

Zero missions in San Andreas mentioned yet? Because I was bawling like a schoolgirl with a skinned knee trying to beat those.

Journey.
I had gone through the whole game with e person. And then, after you collapse, and get shot up to the mountain, my partner dissapeared. I thought that maybe I had to wait for them at the end, and stood at the point before the crevass until they came, but they didn't. First time I've ever cried in a game. Though, I do remember coming close to crying in OoT when you find out Saria died in the 7 years you were sleeping. |

I had gotten the secret Bill Clinton tamagotchi through careful care of my pet and then some kid took a pen and reset my egg. I took his cheap dog imitation tamagotchi thing and threw it off the second floor. Revenge was sweet, yet sad.
RIP Bill. |

The ending of Alice Madness Returns. "We can't go home again." Very bittersweet tragic realisation. Severely underrated game.
Darkness 1 ending. "We get one moment, Jackie." ...But That Was [Yesterday], flash art game about remembering the past but trying to move forward in life. |

Did not even tear up at the UF ending, but boy did I cry at the ending of The Diabolical Box. And the credits theme was so perfect...

Closest I've ever gotten was the death of Nei in Phantasy Star II.
http://youtu.be/jhJorEHu2NI The game came out in 1989, so complaining about spoilers would be like complaining about someone telling you that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.

Not really, no.
But speaking of ENB and being breathless, playing GTA4 with icehnancer 2.0n, lately, and sometimes it's fucking beautiful. Here's a bunch of screencaps i've taken yesterday (with the blurry steam snapshot function and casually while playing through the missions, so no real sense in full screen):

Lost Odyssey had me tearing up in a few scenes (and some of those dreams)
But Crisis Core had me crying and wailing like a little bitch. Everyone who has played FFVII knew what to expect in the end, but oh my God that ending. The music, the gameplay, the dialogue. Perfect. |

No tears but I felt pretty shitty in ME3 when Legion died. I'd been siding with the geth thorough out the whole geth/quarian conflict but obviously hadn't done enough in the previous games to keep both races alive - when push came to shove I couldn't bring myself to save the geth over the quarians. After they were wiped out I felt like such a dick for a moment I thought about not finishing it. Only a moment though, now I want to go back to me2 and do enough to save them both.
Apologies if anyone saw that before the edit, hit the wrong button on my iPad :/ |

When it first came out I had the original Ninja Gaiden. I guess I was 10-ish.
Sometimes I would let it run on the opening menu all night while I fell asleep so it would keep repeating that opening scene with Ryus dad and that other ninja, and that music... that music... And every time his dad and that ninja would jump in the air it always ended the same. You see the dad drop. Combined with the music that used to get me all emo. So fast forward to when the remake came out on XBox. I get my gold scarabs and unlock the original Ninja Gaiden which I hadn't played in years. First time I saw that cinematic again I lost it. They just started flowing. It wasn't even nostalgia really, it was just the same music and it always ends the same. Ninja dad tries his best and just drops. Such a potent scene. |
