Of course, it's probably notably easier to still get a PSP games to retail in Europe, especially since XSEED looks like it's have serious troubles with retail as of late.
They'd have to pay a licencing fee but what I meant was their cost in terms of staff time would be a lot lower.

Well yeah but if Ghostlight is making profit on it that means some licensing cash is going back to Xseed meaning they get additional return on investment.

The way things like novel best seller lists work is because the publishing houses provide those numbers to the New York Times and whatnot. (I know it's not the gaming industry.) I would believe that digital sales would present a big problem with getting accurate counts, as well, due to the nature of how they work.

Game companies know how much of a product was shipped, but tend to rely on NPD for information about actual sell through. NPD receives actual sales data from a majority of retailers and projects the rest based on demographics and such. So NPD's data isn't 100%; perfect, but it's all we - and everyone else - have.

I was about to say... if the NPD information was more accurate, I'd imagine that we would've heard something from a source other than XSEED by now, probably, since that's a question I always see asked by people.

And as you've described it, NPD still can't do anything on digital sales at all. Especially seeing as XSEED has turned to a mostly digital situation...
