Probably posted everywhere...but best place to get a good overall primer to the game in terms of mechanics and classes and UI and all that?

Been watching the character overviews that Blizzard posted so far and these RurouniKage videos on YouTube that are half-hour long.

Just wondering if there's something out there that covers all this, jumping in for the first time when the servers come back up.

It's not a scarf, it's an EMO scarf. Big difference.

I didn't find it intuitive either. It it wasn't for neoGaf I would have no clue about Elective mode and would have played the entire game hampered.

-.-

Obviously it's not just the scarf but the design philosophy behind that. Other caracters are affected as well, DH's scarf is just the tip of the iceberg, so to say.

Uh, the scarf is also only the one armor tier. Armor sets change you know. It's not like I enjoy every armor set Blizzard has ever put out in WoW, for example.

Did you detest Journey too?

Read closer, I already provided that.

And yeah, I hated the scarfs in Journey too, because I really did expect Journey to look lie the sequel to Diablo II. :) Very clever!

Not at all, it's fine to have criticism of the game, I have criticism of the game. You just see to only have criticism of the game.

When a person does nothing but complain and harp about things, it's pretty fair to assume they don't really like the game and are just there to bash and troll the game.

Is there a ban on scarfs in the world of sanctuary according to diablo lore, since it's so wrong to have the demon hunter wearing a scarf?

Let's be honest here man, there are some not so warm places in sanctuary. Act V in d2 was snowland, and the area that tristram is situated in doesn't look like a place you wanna be weaing a t-shirt ^_^

There are plenty of DH armor tiers without scarfs

Careful - this contains all DH armor tiers!

no it isnt, and youre a child for being annoyed that someone doesnt like something as much as you do

the things that are good in d3 arent worth talking about because they were the same things that were good in d2, over ten years ago

the basic structural blocks of the game, the clicking and the killing and the looting, are as fun as ever. with the new physics and stuff, they might even be more fun

how much more is there to say about that?

its everything around it thats different, and worse, and therefore worth discussing

Right click on the icon where you want to add something. You can then switch categories with the arrows on the sides.

The game is definitely better now that I've discovered elective mode. I really don't get why this isn't the default setting.

I get annoyed at your post because they are full of negativity and often times straight up bullshit.

You respond to a post about what elective mode by saying it's a half-assed things, but hey it's better than their normal garbage.

When people use something jay wilson have said about the game in their posts you claim jay wilson clearly is just lying, and anyone that belives him are clearly just gobling up dat pr talk.

People are going to complain about this game, there is plenty to complain about legitimately, especially with some drastic departures from D2 and Torchlight. I don't see why there can't be departures, given that D2 was a HUGE departure from D1. Torchlight 2 will exist though and give you that original D2 experience. And PoE will give you that D2 experience blended through a crazy passives system. Lots of choice. As of now, I am playing all 3, $10 got me into the PoE beta and at $20, TL2 is a no-brainer.

Only thing that made me sad was seeing mods trolling with comments like "it's for babies", but what can you do.

Welp, I'm full of it. I'm not too sure what made those items vanish, but items that are fail to be picked up when your inventory's full stay hidden from other players until you drop them normally. Maybe it was a lag thing? Both times I saw this happen were on friday when there were a bunch of connection issues.

Why? WoW obviously had influence from D2 with colored item names depicting quality to sets and such. Blizzard borrows from itself, there's nothing wrong with this.

If something is designed well, you take from it and polish it more. That's the Blizzard way.

There's a difference between integrating little subtleties like that between two games and then there's completely transforming the iconic art and design style that one franchise was known for into rehashed WoW visuals.

Although with Blizzard North gone and not having anything to do with DIII, I guess we shouldn't have expected anything less.

negativity sure, because i wanted the game to be better than it is. bullshit? where was the bullshit? like three seconds ago when i was wrong it was shown and i didnt pretend i wasnt.

elective mode from all accounts is half assed compared to the skill system that was already in place like three beta patches ago. im not the one who changed it, and im not the only one who has said this.

I mentioned it before, but man I love all the little random events and areas. Lliogar the Crazed Conjurer, The Resplendent Chest, What'shernamesbones, Den of The Fallen, Jar of Souls.

Even on my umpteenth play through I've only seen some of these once.

And I've had a change of heart on the Wizard, I was obviously Doing It Wrong earlier. Just finished her off now, and damn Spectral Blade decimates single foes, which combined with the Obliterate Orb or even just the Jedi-like Shock Oulse+explode rune makes her an exceptional room clearer.

Like a good dinner, it looks like I'll be having 5 mains come release!

/edit: @ Lambo, nup, I've been playing for the last little while.

Yeah I really like the small guiltar flourishes(?) in New Tristram. Of course...i'm going to keep harping on about how Blizz needs to adjust the sound mix to where the music is abit louder, so it isnt drowned out by sound effects/voices.

Because I'd much rather it be its own beast. WoW I've played already, I know what it looks like. I play Diablo to see something different. Diablo 3 reminds me of a mix of Diablo and WoW. That's not a positive. D3 should be unique and only look like Diablo.

I like the game, its fun and I'll be buying it regardless. But I would prefer it to be free of WoW's influence.

I'm sure the deeper you get into Act 1, the more Diablo it will be. Honestly though, the majority of Act 1 looks pretty Diablo, aside from some sections of the Cathedral. The majority is Diablo through and through.

Blue = Elite and Gold = Rare I think. Their harder to kill then normal and have a better chance of giving good loot.

My point about the elective mode was mainly the manner in which all of your post are written, negatively. You could easily have explained it without calling it half assed and using the garbage comment.

As for the jay wilson stuff. I have no doubt that he's telling the truth, though I'm not naive enough to believe that it's only for the reasons he has stated. You pretty much called him a liar and everyone who believed him, were just pr talk suckers.

I honestly don't have a problem with you dislike large portions of diablo 3. The topic would just be more civil and enjoyable to read if your ( and others tbh ) posts didn't ooze negativity everytime they're about things you dislike about the game.

Yeah it's generally agreed that chat room functionality is still extremely bare-bones. On the other hand it's not like they're really needed since you can't even create game rooms with specific titles, and the auction house removes the need for having a trade chat room. Also there are far better third-party text and voice chat rooms that I assume most people will be using like Steam.

aww makes sense why I havent seen a pack of yellow only packs of blue. Purple is another upgrade to blue then?

Also does anyone else feel bad about killing the imps after they pop out of a guy. I mean they were just eaten by another demon and start running around then you just chop them down.

I think purple mobs are unique boss mobs. Bassically they always have the same name, looks, abilties, and be in a specific area ( though most of them seem to be part of the main story or sidequests such as the matriarch's bones )

They drop a lot of gold + magic items if you kill them. Also, if you don't kill them they open a portal that they dissapear into, some people are speculating that you might somehow be able to enter said portal.

They jump into a portal if you don't chase them down. Kill them and they drop a magic item or two
