His childhood friend, Naru Arata is somewhat frail, physically, and requires an inhaler; however, she seems to have "yuta" power due to an accident that happened when she was very young. A mysterious entity called "Secret" suddenly appears and launches an attack on the Scub Coral lifeform on the island. In his fervent desire to protect the island, Ao launches a certain military robot called "Nirvash" aboard a Japanese military transport.

My take (referred to as ‘MT’ from here on out):

Amazing production values, and really great start. Against all odds BONES has produced a show which looks, feels, and sounds like Eureka Seven, without feeling like a me-too rehash. Shocking to say the least, but oh so satisfying!

First, he started to get close to the class president, Mukae Ritsuko, and, secondly, unlikely as it seemed, grew closer to Kawabuchi Sentaro. Sentaro was infamous for getting into fights, skipping class and was an overall bad boy. Strangely enough, the three of them find common ground in music, namely jazz, and Kaoru finds himself actually enjoying the new town.

In an attempt to commit suicide, she drinks a sample of the "resurrection" potion which is created from a poisonous herb known as Hydrangea macrophylla, however this fails to kill her. Following an argument with her father, she falls from a cliff by accident and dies; however as a result of the potion, she returns as a zombie. Though she becomes undead, she chooses not to consume human flesh, and rather survives on eating the hydrangea herbs.

Yet another fairly generic shonen action mecha series with annoying characters, versus a great anime among the best of its kind? It's really not a very hard decision to make at all. Angel Beats is something I love. It has a few minor issues, but they don't blemish its greatness much. E7... that's something that I might consider watching if it was on TV and I couldn't find anything better on. It'll never be anything more than that, it can't be with its concept, genre, story, and characters.

The range of the wall of shame is pretty large though. Compare with Caujator's post count and mine which is near the bottom, I posted about 1/10th of his.

Continued from last thread since I didn't get to finish my response

It wasn't just the animation in ep26 though. It was how everything came together perfectly. It was the mid-series climax. The conclusion of a long character arc that had been running for many episodes. The big event battle where characters from all over are brought together. And to top all that off they put in the best production values possible to ensure it was as good as it could be and as satisfying as it can be in terms of direction, animation, writing, etc.

Without a doubt that is one of most satisfying single episodes of anime I have seen. In gneral E7 always did a good job of putting together the right kind of episodes when it is closing certain plots or when the time for a major set piece battle is taking place.

You're right about the background improvements btw, which is good considering so much of the action is taking place with the cityscape in the background, compared to E7 where you often were only seeing clouds. Even the different spots around town look great though, lots of detail, and of course there was that scene in the ruined city from the first episode

On a side note, I like that we are getting lots of quality water animation too. Or rather there are a lot more scenes involving quality water animation, compared to E7 for obvious reasons. Large airships have been replaced by sea bound battleships as well, it could lead to some visually interesting naval to air battles later in the series which is something we never saw in E7. The sea in general seems like it might be a focus for the series, at least for the early going.
