I'm happy it's coming out. I enjoyed the SFIV games on iOS and absolutely love MvC2. That series is one of my favorite in gaming. I'm going to buy it the second it comes out. And if turns out to be bad, oh well. It doesn't suddenly cause the other versions of the game to be shit. |

It's not so much as a serious game to have tourneys, as with the vast majority of mobile games, its a timewaster. Like many other "serious" iOS games or ports to iOS, its a novelty.
Just be glad Marvel vs Capcom is getting more fans, and iOS users can be happy they are finally getting another game with a budget over $5,000. |

it's already hard pulling off thoes forward, diagonal, down, diagonal quater circle moves on vita. wonder how thats gonna work on touchscreen...
Unless they decide to make it only the touch mode. where you just constantly tap the screen for the character to attack. |

I didn't see if they are all unlocked or not but I really hope they aren't. I was disappointed when the XBLA port dropped and everyone was available from the start. I was looking forward to unlocking a ton of people and then getting fed up and leaving my XBox on to net more points for the rest.

Why are you guys even making this an issue? Capcom probably spent $5K to port this 15 year old game, so they can make tens of thousands, maybe even a couple hundred thousand. It's in no way comparable to the other versions of the game, if it doesnt allow bluetooth controllers. If it does, who cares? I don't think Capcom is clamoring to make $500K or greater budget games for iOS, but porting them? Sure, why not?

SF4 iOS is at least a bit more comparable in pace to its console brethren. I can't even fathom playing this at such a gimped speed, in the process your kinda taking away the essence of the game.
If this game has simplified controls and speed, I don't see why I would even use it as a time waster. It'd be more like an art asset showcase or gallery app. I wonder what the character select screen looks like on iPhone. |

It is also possible the devs are thinking about these things, and actually want to make something that ends up being fun to play and that people will want to buy. Crazy I know but it has happened before. |

The problem is, in terms of inputs, timing and level of control, MVC2 is leagues more demanding than SF4. That's even before you ,move on to high level play such as Roms and infinites. Not only that, but there is so much going on during gameplay that having your fingers covering any inch of the screen, is detrimental. Especially on iPhone, using traditional touch controls, your thumb is going obsurce your opponents assist nearly every time. I'm sure some will be able to have some fun with the game, but it's as practical as sonic 1 was when ported to the iPod classic. |

Games like sonic are fundamentally different to fighting games. In those you need the pixel perfection sometimes, or the feel of where you are on the touch screen when switching from left to right. This makes a game like megaman unplayable. In a fighting game it doesn't really matter too much if the motions are simplified, which they almost certainly will be. As you said, this may be more of an issue in a faster paced game like MVC2 compared to SF4 where you have a lot of time to get your inputs right. What I suspect is that some characters like Magneto might lose a trick or two due to limitations. In SF4 some characters certainly translated better than others. The good news is maybe the 46 or so characters nobody used will be a bit more fun or viable because their stuff is easier to pull off, or it isn't made as redundant by the big names. |

I watched the SFIV LG tournament where they had to play the phone version because LG sponsored it or something. That was a pretty sad affair haha.
Anyway, it's just a matter of time until these devices are powerful enough to get current ports instead of 10 year old ones, so those asking "what are these for/who asked for this?", just think of this as laying the foundation. |

Proper virtual analogs and especially D-pads are pretty much impossible to do. I weep for an all-touch future. It's a limitation at the hardware level; theres no way to make it as comfortable, useable or enjoyable as the real thing. And a fighting game is the LAST place where I want to feel like I am fighting the controls to get what I want. That said, I didn't think SFIV was too bad. It just loses its luster very quickly because of said issues.

I like that Capcom is giving the iOS some decent support, even if it's sometimes games that don't work with the control scheme like Marvel, but some of their other stuff like Ghost Trick and Phoenix Wright work very well on iOS.
I do wish that they could give the 3DS, Vita, and PC some Marvel 2 and Marvel 3 (Vita excluded) love though. :/ |

is it just me or is the game speed slower than the naomi/console defaults? |

The backgrounds look like they forgot to use a z-buffer. So much warping just like a PSX title. Wouldn't be surprised if it ran at 30 fps even. |
