It's been discussed to hell in the other thread, but I might as well bring it up now since so many are asking the same question. I still think there should be a visual cue (at least in-board view) like this;

People won't stop asking the same question, and not everyone who stumbles upon the mobile version will know about this thread (and thus read the UI tips in OP) so I think it's a necessary additive eventually.

Also, are there any plans to get auto-redirect working depending for mobile devices? Or has this proven to be more difficult than originally anticipated?

I like secondapps way better. Faster, no ads, and secondapps is less colorful (useful for being at work and making it look like I'm reading emails). What was the point of doing this when we already had secondapps?

As for the redirects, that's still coming, just didn't want to keep waiting on the launch for too long when everything else was in place.

Obviously congrats and thanks to ckoehler and evilore, I appreciate this site and every attempt to make it better for mobile users, but plenty of us have offered to pay for GAF Gold. I know it's a "closed issue," but I'd rather pay a premium than be subjected to ads on the mobile site. Just sayin'

It is, but only when you are not logged in. If you are logged in you'll only see the two adds at the bottom and at the top.

If I use the bar at the bottom to jump to the top of the page, it jumps back down to the bottom of the page by itself. I'm guessing this is happening as soon as the ad at the bottom of the screen refreshes.

Edit: I'm using a Droid X Android 2.3.4 stock browser

I think there might be a small bug. I had the same issue logged in. Halfway down the page there was an extension of the ad but it was blacked out. I should have taken a screenshot but I pressed the back button too soon.

Indeed. Definitely more user-friendly and it's a quick, simple fix that should get the point across.

Well done mobile app though in any regard! Been looking forward to this for awhile now. I think I'll stop using the desktop version on my tablet now.

Blue fonts are less attractive. But excellent work on getting the site up.

For the people asking for a pay once-no ads ever version, this has been debated to death in the previous app topic : GAF needs the ads way more than it needs the immediate cash. So I don't think it's ever coming.

So I realize Neogaf needs ads, but... they're super intrusive on the iPhone. They take up a pretty big portion of the screen, they're at the top and the bottom, and they're even animated! Is there no other solution for this? I don't adblock on my desktop because the ads don't take up that much space and it's cool to help NeoGAF get some ad revenue, but it's much worse on my phone.

EviLore maybe you should mention in the OP tips that the blue banner at the top of the page will automatically put you at the bottom and vice versa. In the web app thread that was a common question.

That's good to hear, I thought maybe you all hit a stumbling block or something. But I can't wait for that when it comes, will make everything a lot simpler.

PS. The icon used for the 'pin-to-homescreen' feature is still the old (first) one I did, could that possibly be updated with this file instead?;



^It just looks more native-app-like with the top bezel and whatnot, versus the current one which is basically the same as the Windows 7 tile image iirc. (oh and retina iPad resolution of course; 144px)

Probably a nitpick but if it's going to be on our home screens and visible all day, it'd be good to have it look like native app as possible.

The secondapps stuff should be taken down today. Obviously the login issues will be fixed before that happens in any case.

They do take up about 15% of the screen space on the iPhone, but mainly I hate that the text animates. It's awesome that they scroll away though. Even so, I'd be on GAF Gold like white on rice.

Yeah that's weird, I feel the same. They're more 'alive' I guess, with some of them dynamically ticking/scrolling new text; makes it stand apart from the rest of the interface which is a good thing.
