Bad analogy, if you're girlfriend was really gone for 5 years you'd be looking at porn every day anyway. It'd be more like STOPPING to watch porn before she gets back.

Looking at those sites;

How are you guys going to specialize your traits? Is it going to be better to focus on 2 lines or try to get a more balance going on among more lines?

Maybe they're adding some subtle stuff every day leading up to a giant disco ball for the countdown Friday morning?

There are specific traits you definitely want no matter how you play

For example, ranger, more or less, lacks the ability to remove condition so having evasive purity is essential.

Evasive Purity: Remove a condition from you and nearby allies on dodge roll. (RANGER)

While there are other traits that you want to have for a certain play style (i.e. if most of your utility skills are signets)

Written in Stone: You don't lose the passive effects of signets when you activate them. (Elementalist)

You'd only want Evasive Purity if you're fighting condition heavy enemies, otherwise there's no point in having that slotted. It's all situational.

Heh, we've been 'looking at porn' every day, actually. Press events were like Christmas... if everyone got porn instead of presents for Christmas, that is. Imagine that, a fat unshaven guy breaks into your house, eats all of your cookies and and leaves you porn. Wait, where was this analogy going again?

My point is, why fuss around with a stripped down substitution when the real thing is only a few days away?

Because you get lots of passive Attributes for spending points, it pays to consider diversifying. After all, this isn't WoW: the 'Best' traits aren't buried at the end of the Trait line, you get to pick the order.

Tossing 10 points in everything may seem like you're watering yourself down, but that's still +100 Power, Precision, Toughness, Vitality and Prowess, and those are all good things for every profession to consider. Don't overlook them.

Beyond that? Just make a build that plays the way you want and work towards perfecting it.

Sparklies? Twilight Vampire race confirmed. This is all the evidence I need to re-name the GAF guild to "Team Edward".

Looks like snow to me. Winter is Coming?

Actually, they kinda look like Embers. I'm not sure if they were there before or not.

You'd still have access to all of your other major Nature Magic traits, you could just switch Evasive Purity out for something else as you only need to talk to an NPC to refund your points.

Yep, the major traits can be exchanged for any of the other ones within the same line without needing to respec.

That seems pretty weak for an elite skill. There are normal skills that slow or knockdown for longer duration's I think.

Um, what about Healing Spring and Signet of Renewal? Granted, the signet is a passive removal every 10 seconds, but that's easier to change out than resetting your traits if you don't want 10 points in Nature Magic.

I've seen that skill in action on TB's videos. It's a short ass duration turn to stone. Really not that powerful.

You changed your post before I could quote it, but in response to your question, the Troll Unguent doesn't apply the Regeneration buff, it just Regenerates health over time. Kinda confusing wording there.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but will we be able to pre-purchase the game from Amazon? They're on the list of qualifying retailers, but I can only find the link to pre-order the game, not pre-purchase it.

It's been said that you can pre-purchase the digital version through them, but it seems to be in their hands and I don't think they're gonna have it going prior to this beta weekend. Amazon UK/Germany have the full capability for physical prepurchases.

Hmm, well compared to the other two elites that have 180 second cooldowns. I guess the draw that it is a short 45s cooldown disable.

At least its CD is inline with the other utility skills.

The only benefit to it I can see is that it only has a 45 sec. cooldown, which is pretty short for an Elite skill. Still, I expect that will either get improved, cut completely, or changed out in favor of a slightly different effect.

We'll see next week!

No problem, it happens. Good that we're looking at this stuff now rather than when we're on borrowed time in game. Plus, my wife is planning to roll Ranger, so knowing what her profession can and can't do easily helps. Since they can't really wipe Conditions easily, that's something I'll have to consider when I'm building.... whatever profession I finally decide to play.

The general consensus is No. It seems like most people are going for either the standard edition (and planning to blow the $20 they would have spent on Gems) or buying the CE. DD seems really unpopular, at least here on GAF.

The gem shop has entirely cosmetic and account based services. There's absolutely nothing in it that allows you to buy power. Also, you can buy Gems with in-game Gold so you never have to spend a dime of your own money if you don't want to.

1 second is a tad short but let's remember that it's a venom meaning you can apply it before the combat and it lasts for 45 secs. And with a trait the recharge is just 36. Meaning you can apply another one just after the first one has been used.

2 seconds would be nice for it. Anything more and it could be too OP if you chained 2 of those. You can't counter stoning after all.

Well, currently you need to login to even see it and I'm going to assume that will be the case for Betas. However, seeing as there's no NDA, people can talk about what is said on the forums if they want.

Rangers have a few options with condition removal. Signet of Renewal in utilities, Healing Spring for a heal, Evasive Purity trait you mentioned and also Empathic Bond, Brown Bear's "Shake it off". I agree that Evasive Purity seems the best of the bunch, especially coupled with the 15 point Wilderness Survival perk "Companion's Defense" and the 5 point "Natural Vigor". Gonna be a lot of dodge rolling as a Ranger.

I'm wondering if a dodge removal will work on an immobilize or stun though.

It wouldn't be crazy if they actually did have them in the client, just closed. It's more work to remove them from the branch than it is to just close off access to the zones, especially because zones are instanced and not connected. But of course, I could be wrong, we just don't really know for sure unless someone manages to break into the .dat file and extract the content.
