Really, what it means is that there will be VERY dedicated players playing on Anvil Rock. Guilds where everyone has at least 3000+ hours played in GW1, some of that on PVP only accounts.

You do know that the game has only a single economy rather than each server's marketplace existing in a vacuum, right? So a single server trying to manipulate a game-wide economy? I wish 'em luck.

I noticed that too. The game seems to be Alt-tab friendly enough, but doesn't allow your cursor to leave the game... I prefer windowed so my cursor can just slide over to my second monitor.

This is the beta, it's not going to mattter. Once the game gets close to launch, the officers and the GMs will discuss this in further detail.

Hmm? There are lots of EU servers, I dunno if they've officially designated any of them as language-specific though. Maybe they want to keep it open, in the same way they haven't listed any servers for East Coast, West Coast, etc. for NA.

The GW2 trading post is cross-world, so this shouldn't matter at all.

Yeah, in the video where one of the developers talk about GW2 at PAX(a MMO panel if my memory serve me right) he says that after the panel there will be Beta codes. He doesn't say if they are usable for this BWE, only says "Beta keys for you and two more"

I love the irony of an individual stating that Windows is overpriced... while simultaneously stating that they own a Mac.

I own a Mac, BTW. I also paid for a copy of Windows 7 64-bit Home Edition OEM from Amazon for $99 so I could also do PC gaming through Bootcamp. If you can afford Apple's overpriced computers, then you sure as hell can afford getting a license for Windows 7. Don't be a tool.

Dude, play the game if you're in Beta, that's how you're going to find out.

All of the discussion so far is theory based on outdated info. The only real benefit to all of it is just getting comfortable with how traits and such work.

Believe me, most of GAF is gonna head into the game on the same level as everyone else. Maybe a little more knowledgeable, but this isn't a numbers game on the same level as WoW or EQ; being a skilled player beats having higher stats any day of the week.

Yak's Bend looks like the unofficial Douchebag server, with GW2 Guru (eww) and Reddit (eww x2) landing there. Penny Arcade is listed there too, and you just know with a silly name like "Yak's Bend", it's going to become troll central.

Beta is your chance to get familiar with the gameplay and system. A lot of people are going to be in the same boat as you. Playing and learning together is what makes the whole experience great in itself.

I wonder if it's possible to walk (not use any Asura Gates) from any of the starting cities to another during the beta, or if the in-between areas are too tough for a level 20 to get through.

You could walk from Hoelbrek to BC, DR to HB might be a bit harder and walking to LA may be impossible as the zone outside of it is mid to late 20's and we don't know if it's open.

I dunno that we'll be able to get the highest quality screenshots possible, but I for one fully plan to take a ton of pictures just for the sake of remembering my first steps into the game (I regret having lost the ones I took from WoW).

Hardware Compatibility Display: the graphics-settings slider has only a minor impact on performance at this time. We are currently optimizing Guild Wars 2, making ongoing improvements to the game’s frame rate. Presently, the game is CPU-bound on most high-end systems, so lowering graphics settings or upgrading your video card may not have a large impact on performance.

As I recall (and the Yogscast guys probably mentioned it) a lot of those forms aren't finalized yet. The Panther form especially.

That never gets old and despite looking like trolling at first glance, is alarmingly accurate at portraying multiple mesmers in action. Especially Greatsword Mesmers.
