Though it needs to be kept in mind, is that this comparison pictures one version is reconstructed to look like the other. And this pictures if anything are confusing people.

In some way, I guess is saying that both games seem to be using similar assets, but the comparisons look similar, because they're made to look similar.

Is like the (many) remixes released of the Wii (and even the DS) version.

So again ,those are not official levels and those are not in the Wii (or DS) version.

The top screen is not actually from the Wii version. It's an altered screen to show the subtle graphical differences.

I hope they fade the backgrounds a little before release. That's one thing I have always liked about the Mario games: good contrast. Not as much in this release, so far.

Consider the difference the 3D may have on the perception of the background / foreground contrast. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

They've already announced a lot of new features for the next Animal Crossing, why do people still think that there won't be anything new?

And I think they announced Animal Crossing for 3DS so early to make sure they got all the Animal Crossing fans hooked (believe me, Animal Crossing is a system seller for fans of the series). Everyone knew that Mario would be coming eventually, so there's no need to announce the game earlier than they need to.
