And you "can't wait" to buy the Wii followup, which is technologically comparable to the other 2.

Does not compute.

People liking Nintendo games and looking forward to seeing them in HD? How difficult is that really to understand?

I just now bought a Wii, so no.

Probably wont get another console for 2-3 years. Hopefully the new Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo systems will all be out by then and have a respectable library of games so I can decide which I think is the best for me.

It offers a different experience. See all the Wii/PC posts earlier.

But the Wii U can play Wii games, so why not have waited until E3 to see if buying a Wii now would be a better choice? The Wii U might launch with a good amount of software based on what Shane from GT was saying.

Because it’s not about graphics. No console have ever succeeded because it was the most powerful. Regardless of power Wii U will give birth to brand new games (1st and 3rd party) that you’d never get on Wii and/or PS360. As a gamer it’s hard not to be excited by that.

I'm acting on the assumption that Miyamoto has an idea.

Quote:
I don't know that we would be able to sit here and say that it's going to necessarily dramatically outperform the systems that are out now.
If Don Mattrick or Jack Tretton made that quote, I'd buy a new PC.

Doesn't say anywhere that it won't outperform them...

There's a difference between dramatically outperforming and outperforming.

Hopefully there's a difference between PS3 and PS4.

Mario... Zelda... Pikmin... Smash Bros... Metroid... we all know the drill. Who knows if the new editions will be fresh and exciting, but most of us will still play them and enjoy them for the most part.

If only they would do a new Earthbound on the Wii U... my prayers would be answered. I never thought we'd see a new Kid Icarus but it happened. I love to be surprised.

I will be buying a WiiU. The questions is whether it is at launch or a year or two later. It may hinge on whether the Vita gets a significant price drop and more JRPGs.

Depending on the price. I have never-ever owned a Nintendo console and I'm interested in some Wii titles so if Wii U is backwards compatible (is this confirmed?), I might get it.
It's always nice to see new hardware. I'll decide after this year's E3 after we get ALL THE INFO ... we'll get all the info right? right? :anxious:

Probably not. I'm not much of a Nintendo fan anyways, so it's up to the third party line up.

The only factor I'm going to care about concerning the Wii U is what games are available at launch. If there is something I am highly interested in, then I'm buying one regardless of price. Otherwise, I can wait a few months.

i won't, not fan of nintendo first party games, only mario kart and advance wars, and already happy with ps360, and i'd rather wait for MS and SOny's next gen consoles. Wii was the least used console i've ever had.

But that's because majority of the worthwhile PS3 games I could buy are also on PC, where I'll get them instead.

Nintendo systems fill a very specific niche gap in my gaming library. Nintendo has a monopoly on franchises I love, and I can't get them anywhere other than their platforms. And, for all the shit their ancient tech obscure controller platform turned out to have, by simply being different it ended up with a lot of titles you just cant get anywhere else. And that I like.

I have no interest in the Wii U being up to date with the crop of multi platform titles. Batman, Creed, GTA, whatever: I wont be buying them, so hopefully the apparently surprising launch line-up is made up of exclusive and unique games, not just ports.
Pretty much exactly how I feel. I do hope it's able to keep up with the next gen console however, for the third party games that don't get a PC release.

Not going to buy a new console for many years to come. Moved almost exclusively to PC, I have better FPS and settings there + am not forced to sign up for PSN/XBL + my games load in 5 seconds, and not 45.

Oh please. Miyamoto would have said the same thing if the WiiU was some 40 core, triple GPU beast. Nintendo have a long history of being bashful about console power; it's not for nothing there's still a public perception that the PS2 was more powerful than the Gamecube.

Nah. The PS3 and 360 look like they're going to stay viable until the release of their successors and my PC ain't going anywhere. No need for a Wii-U.

I'm definitely considering it, especially with Shane Satterfield commenting on how the launch looks to have some great software. I'm loving a lot of the software we're getting now on the PS3 and the 360, but I was totally ready to buy a new home console or two this year.
I REALLY hate your post.

Like I need other console manufacturers to bail out, to get hype for a new console...

I'll buy the WiiU because it's a new Nintendo machine, which promises a lot a fun, also because I'm borderline geek and any new piece of tech gets me giddy.
But spending around 500€ or more just because there is nothing else?
There is tax, food, travels...or phones, tvs, cameras etc...

Buh to you!

If WiiU = Ps3X360,

no reason to buy one.

If I would buy a WiiU, it could be because i'd like to get one.

edit : Monome : I think the same thing as you.

I'll buy Wii U because its likely to have games I want. Conversely, Xbox and PS next would need to make up for a lot of serious issues ps360 had before I even consider touching them, no matter how good the games.

Quite easy thing for me to do. I didn't get a Wii until the black version came out and the only reason why I got it was because it was for I got it for free.

Although I did buy one for my niece a year before that only because she wanted it.

right...should, could, had to, too little, too late... got more to say?

My first, imported, PS3 costed me 800$ with like one game or two.
I've had around 10 XBOX 360s this gen.
Skyward Sword made my eyes bleed after finishing Uncharted 3.

MS, SONY, and Nintendo, they all want my moneyz, but in some ways they all steal from me, yet deliver on some promises.

Nintendo didn't have to go HD, it made PS3 unbeleivably expensive, and 360 a sick to the core console. Non HD Wii has received no love since DKCR because of its inferior hardware.

Yet I've had a great time with each. Consoles are non essential items. no manufacturer is perfect. they are greedy. I can deal with it. I love games.
