Happy to hear Evo will be on Twitch. The stream was flawless last year, I'm pretty sure Spooky said he just has problems with the East Coast Twitch servers.
AE needs to be the main event at Evo. I watch Marvel streams weekly, and even I admit that. Last year's AE top 8 was fucking electric. International players bring the hype like nothing else. Interesting to hear KOF at #3. Wouldn't be surprised to see MK at #4 after the 20K announcement. Which would make SFxT... #5? Crazy. |

Edit: My bad if I come off as confrontational. |

Marvel could have been it. Last year Poongko beating Daigo pretty much saved the finals. If it was just Fuudo v. Daigo, it probably would have demoralized everyone almost as badly Momochi v. Gamerbee for Season's Beatings 2010.

Nah, I'm talking about pre-release of SFxTK. Back when SFxTK had hope, people thought it would kill AE and become the new international flavor and the main game at EVO.

Having investigated that tourney somewhat i dont think the tournament is really the priority either. (Theres 2 parties the first two nights, who the hell is going to play after that)

It's not that people thought SFxT would overtake AE, it's that it was the game that would be most likely to hurt it. If tons of people stopped playing AE for SFxT, Street Fighter players would be split between the two and Marvel would probably go unscathed and become the top game. But that didn't happen as Japan, Europe, and nearly every other region ignored the game. The US on the other hand started pretty strong, but after just one month(or a few weeks in the case of NCR), people started dropping like flies.

International doesn't exclusively mean Japan. AE has worldwide appeal, but not just because of its Arcade release.
But you're right, and personally I never thought SFxTK would have international appeal or kill/overtake AE.

Well I'm sure the MK guys are pretty thrilled. SCV people already got there money during the world tournament a little while back. KOF got some e-sports money(like MK and SCV). Now we're just waiting to hear from Capcom. I thought they would pour some of that cash into EVO, but it looks like they may keep it exclusively to their own future events. It would be nice if every game had some guaranteed money though just to make the event even more prestigious.

Capcom already put in 25 thousand in that reality show that most people forget happened. Its not like they havent done anything. Albeit you could make an argument that Capcom would have been better off had they spent those 25k on a pot bonus for SF x T at Evo. Also

But Cross Assault made me pick up the game. Seeing wake up rolls and finding out that alpha counters were back, got me interested. Now I just want to see the CvS2 guard break meter back (A3's permanent reduction after break was a bit too extreme).

But anyways, the point is that it was for a reality show that was exclusive to only a few members that applied for it. We want to see the best in the world go after that money in a traditional tournament. That would create tons of hype and anticipation. I'm sure you already knew what I meant, but I just wanted to say that anyways. |
