I thought Sessler produced those live E3 shows as well so he could end up behind the scenes somewhere. He has plenty of options with his rep in the industry.

The G4 ship sank a long time ago with crappy writing, a whole sum of two unwatchable shows, endless reruns of COPS, Cheaters, Campus PD, and general un-funny. After it killed any gaming shows it had, and after it killed the quirky TechTV shows, the network has been dying a slow and horrible death over the years. I'm actually surprised that Adam has been on board this long. Glad he's going to move on to bigger and better things.

I never watched G4, but I really hated this dude. The face + voice combo was intolerable and I disagreed with his gaming views more often than not. I'd rather he stay at G4 so I know I won't run into his face while roaming the net.

Didn't always agreed with Sessler but at least liked how he presented things. However G4 is a shell of it's former self and then it was never a great channel. It stopped being really watchable as a whole I think when it stopped being G4TechTV (Tech shows, gaming, and even an anime block. How I saw and enjoyed Read or Die and Last Exile). Once they started to remove all of that was the beginning of the end. It's a worthless channel now and when DirecTV dropped them I was only annoyed because I wouldn't be able to see E3 coverage. I could DVR it and call it a day instead of streaming it. The problems it has is of it's own doing.

I honestly never understood going in the direction to being a channel that shows reruns of COPS for hours, etc. How did they think that was a good idea?

Sessler is one of the very few guys in the industry who, when I disagree with him, it's not because he doesn't know all the facts or he's blinding himself to obvious shit. A lot of the things he said I disagreed with, but it was a matter of perspective and not misinformation. This thread reminds me that I miss the old G4 tv. Sure it was rough around the edges but I really enjoyed shows like Cinematech, Icons, and even G4TV.com plus even throwaway shows like Blister, Cheat, and that countdown show with Diane Mizota.

It was like some weird dream come true. I especially loved the show where they just sat at a table and talked games for half an hour.

I can't see Morgan staying much longer. She's getting a little old in the tooth for the average G4 viewer. Be nice if she and Sessler could do a podcast on their own--I always liked their dynamic when they went off-script.

Previous to TechTV/G4 being bought by E!, Adam wasn't a bad person. His reviews felt legit (back when he did his reviews) and his opinions were his. Then E! bought them and shit went down hill fast. You can just tell those weren't the same people reviewing what ever they played. Hell, couldn't even tell if they played them (they pointed out issues not in the game). In my eye, this is a saving grace for him. May he find work elsewhere.

Also, extended play was always better than X-play.

The thing that I don't understand about that channel is that I know that they basically re branded themselves as another Spike TV, but what's the point if your ratings aren't doing too excellent. If the re branding was irrelevant to their ratings, then why not try something different and go back to a Tech TV style format.

TechTV was too amazing, going back to the way they were would be the smart thing to do. But the people that run G4 aren't that smart.

Yeah, I just checked also, and it does look like tonight's episode is a rerun. To be honest, I haven't watched X-Play in a while, but only due to a lack of time, not because of a dislike for the show. So, yeah, who knows what is going on now. I will DVR every episode until a new one airs, just in case.

It's why I have no love for G4. If it was primarily about gaming and tech... great. But to devolve your programming into a b-rate spike tv clone, then what's the point?

As much as I'd love for them to go back to TechTv style programming, it's been largely outdone by various video podcasts, some of them by some of the original people from TechTV.
