Torchlight 2 is on Steam (pre-purchase)... #1

...for £14.99

Summer 2012 is the date given, just appeared today.

Still think they could have done with getting it out pre D3 but still. It's showing as Windows only right now but I hope the OSX port isn't far behind.

oh well i was mad at first that it didn't make it out before D3, but now it's alright since D3 will happen before T2 now anyways!

They might as well make sure to polish it as much as they can before release now so it'll make a great Xmas sale buy for when i want to catch a break with DIablo

20 dollars is a fair price. It's too bad that everyone will wait on a Steam sale between Diablo 3's release and the fact that the original Torchlight went on sale a hundred times. I'll probably wait on the inevitable console version.

July is probably their best best. Get a few months separation from D3, but also have a few months before the Fall rush.

Helps that summer is (inexplicably) pretty dead for game releases, a fact that continues to baffle the shit out of me.

I'd like to join a 4 pack if anyone is hosting.

UK here so it's more expensive than in the US.

Yeah I am going to pick it up, they must have a date in mind now (it was due out July last year...) and at that price it's worth it. From what I have seen it's a massive amount of content for the price, like D2 to D1 (MP, huge overworld, world bosses, random generated dungeons etc...).

I'm not planning on pre-purchasing, not for sales, but because I really don't benefit from spending $20 now. May as well wait until I actually get to play the thing, and WANT to play the thing. I'll confer with the buddies and see how $15 sounds to us, but I have a feeling none of us care that much -- we all own the first one, so that dangling fruit is pointless.

I really do want it -- and I'm sure the first time I feel like Diablo III gets monotonous (even my favorite games in history grow bothersome from time to time), or B.Net is undergoing maintenance, I'll hop over to Steam and buy it. It's cheap, and I'm sure it will be great.

It will probably come out with the Next-Generation of consoles. It'd make for a great 'launch' title so to speak. Torchlight didnt exactly make a bolt for consoles, was it 2 years there? I don't recall.

I really hope this fixes most of the problems with Torchlight 1. It was fun, but got extremely repetitive fast. I'm looking forward to Torchlight II more than Diablo III, although that's mainly because of the price point. I'll inevitably pick up D3 at some point, but only when I have more money.

(Luckily, Titan Quest is currently satisfying my loot whore needs. I should have played it years ago.)

A mortal sin to not already own it, it was like £3 / $5 for ages! It's very nice as well, but clearly a kind of proof of concept / budget game. The fact they are getting the sequel out at the same price with much much more content is great imho.

Bear in mind as well, many of these guys worked on Diablo and made the first two games what they were.

perfect timing. D3 will take me all the way until T2 goes on sale. Then, Grim Dawn will take me the rest of the way till T2 is on Steam's holiday sale in 2013!

conversely, you could get T2 and wait for Diablo to release their expansions

TL2 will be nice for running on my crappy laptop when I'm not home. Fitting price for such a title.

With how long it's taken for just Heart of the Swarm, that's probably not the brightest of ideas if you have any interest at all in D3.

I bought yesterday so I could play the original for free.

It is a fun game but not nearly as fun as Diablo 3 beta. But it will be a good title to hold me over until D3.

Then when I need a break from D3 I will have Torchlight 2 to play.

I usually take a break from gaming in the summer but this is looking like it will be a busy summer for games.
