nope

Not sure though, if you - as part of a 4-pack - would get TL1 gifted by the buyer of the 4 pack. Then it would be possible to gift TL2 and TL1 independently, but I ain't sure if it works that way.

I said "[get] in on a four pack" (i.e. join a group buy), not "[buy] yourself a four pack."

Buy Torchlight II as a gift, choose keep in inventory. You'll get TL1 and TL2 as separate gifts in your inventory (maybe xD)

I bought a 4-pack and got 4x TL1 and 3x TL2 to gift away. I used trading to let the others get their games so they can trade TL1 further if they own it. Otherwise gifting it to them wouldn't work anyway.

I don't think they really think of it as a concern.
I noticed that you never use the [Quote] feature to quote people. Makes sometimes hard to find out who you're replying to, especially now that we have that awesome "go to post" button attached to every quote. Is there a reason why you don't use it? :)

On Topic: Will buy as soon as my new Pc is built. Still only have a Netbook that doesn't even run Torchlight 1. :[

I was just thinking. You know what would be legendary? If Torchlight 2 had Steam trading like TF2, Spiral Knights through the Steam community tab.

For me, this is the only choice. I'd be all over D3 if my poor old comp could play it, but Torchlight II has compassion for the financially challenged. Looking forward to it.

Very bad idea. Can't be done without Diablo 3-style DRM.

uhm, how can this be a very bad idea? It just uses the Steam client to trade. And almost everyone got their Torchlight 2 through Steam how can this be a bad idea?

Sorry for not elaborating earlier, was on my phone. The only way to ensure that trades have any sort of value is to protect save files from being hacked, and the only mathematically guaranteed way to prevent save files from being hacked is to store them and grant items online. Obviously this isn't a problem for TF2 or Spiral Knights, but for single-player games it necessitates Diablo 3-style DRM, or if an offline mode is implemented then some sort of strict separation between offline and online saves.

Diablo 3 has the RMA which has the same requirements, of course, which is a big reason why it has the DRM it does have. As another corroborating point, you must have noticed your TF2 items reset to stock if your connection with the Steam item server is lost. Same reason.

In that case I would understand why trading would be a bad idea

If anybody is interested in a copy of Torchlight 2+Torchlight 1, I'm trading them for Swords & Sworcery+Bastion+Dustforce (more or less the same price as Torchlight II pre-order).

Kind of hard to complain when it's only 20. I will enjoy this game a lot while the cheap crowd waits on a sale.

Nonono, I don't mean people who buy it full price.

Weren't you there for the year it launched? It went on sale at (I think) 25% off in the Steam xmas sale. Then it was a daily deal for 75% off. People cried that they got "torched". Everyone who waited for a daily deal laughed at them.

It was truly the beginning of the "wait for the daily deal ffs" meme.

I'm pretty sure most people prepurchasing are aware that games on Steam will eventually go on sale.

Steam is getting annoying in that respect but with a base price of $20 a sale doesn't really matter to me.

The only reason I would pick it up later instead of Day 1 is if I'm burned out on ARPGs, not because of the price.

A lot of times they do those 10%-off-if-you-preorder deals. I guess that's not going to happen here, or it would be happening already. Would be pretty crappy if the people who preordered later got a discount. Of course, a few bucks off is the only sane reason to pre-purchase a digital release, but most gamers aren't sane obv.

No this has LAN, offline play etc.

Diablo 3 is be better in every single way though, so I guess that would be the reason to buy it. Torchlight 2 will be a nice snack, but it has to improve thousands of times over Torchlight 1 to come close to even the D3 beta.

I have Torchlight 2 pre-ordered, but its just for a few laughs to check it out. I spent more time playing D3 beta then Torchlight 1.

I found out during the beta how frustating that can be, and its not worth it

I got what you meant. The wait for the daily deal thing.

Although IMO the "This game looks great, can't wait to pick it up a year from now for 2 bucks in a steam sale!" mentality is also kind of lame, even if Valve have played into that somewhat with all the great deals.

I believe he/she's talking about when the game is on sale, along with hundreds of others, during the holidays or some such for about 25% off. Then during the same sale, the game goes on daily deal for even more money off. He/she will laugh at the people that bought the game for 25% instead of the daily deal. Nothing to do with preorderers.

The offline play automatically makes it better for people in my situation (shitty internet), and for those that like the ability to mod their games. I can understand why they went with online only for D3, but I'm personally not down with it, even if I didn't have internet with 1000+ ping.

When someone says they have no reason to play Diablo 3 because of this game you don't have to take it as a personal attack, Diablo lurkers. I'm going to play both games and the experience with this game will undoubtedly be different and one of those reasons is the ability to play offline which is very important to some people.

Comparisons are fine, giving reasons why you think Diablo is better after having played both games is fine, but why shit up this thread? If you aren't interested in Torchlight the Diablo thread is constantly being bumped with discussion.
