Can we please talk about Grim Fandango and how amazing it is?

![]() I can't think of another game that could easily rank among the top ten in literally ALL aspects of presentation: art direction, story, writing, soundtrack, and characters. The classic noir aesthetic creates for amazing atmosphere, and coupled with the seamless cinematics, you honestly feel like you're in an epic Disney film or something. Only Uncharted 2 compares in terms of making you feel like you're experiencing an interactive movie (to me, of course). I played the game for the first time three years ago, and long for the day it arrives on GOG so that I can replay it. My only gripe with it were the sometimes awkward keyboard/camera controls, and some insanely obtuse puzzles. I could not complete it without a guide, which hampered some of my enjoyment. But that's just me generally sucking at adventure games. Who remembers the Blue Casket? Just look at that wonderful art. Those goddamn colors. And the poem is so wonderful: With bony hands I hold my partner On soulless feet we cross the floor The music stops as if to answer An empty knocking at the door It seems his skin was sweet as mango When last I held him to my breast But now we dance this grim fandango And will four years before we rest.

Is there any way to get clean version of the speech tracks from this?
I know it's an odd question but it would help me.
I've never been that good at adventure games but by the end of GF I had gotten into the way of thinking, making Glotis sick was a solution that seemed as logical as putting a stamp on a letter. |

Never managed to enjoy it, waiting hopefully for a future GOG release.

I usually have horrible memory when it comes to recalling specific details from games (even made a thread about it lol), but I still remember so much from Grim Fandango despite playing it only once a few years back.
Like the strange black-and-white diner sequence, or Glottis singing "Rusty Anchor" on the piano, or the rooftop sequence in the beginning with the pigeons, or riding around in the Bone Wagon with this awesome fucking tune playing in the background. And "Manny Calavera" is the coolest name ever. Great voice acting by everyone in the game, btw, but especially Manny. ![]() Tony Plana! |

Well, it's been strongly hinted at. A lot of people are speculating that Lucas Arts is the next big publisher announcement (just check the GOG thread to see what I mean). I forget when the actual reveal is supposed to happen, though. Maybe someone there can answer that for you.

Let's talk about how this game is STILL not available on any of the DD platforms instead!!
Damn it i would LOVE to play this to completion as i never got to back in the day and now i can't get it to run properly on my Win 7 machine and believe me i tried :( What is this Lucas Arts announcement exactly for GOG? If this were to happen indeed then that would be fucking awesome... AWESOME! *pray* |

It's possible, but like you said, it's a hassle. GOG should be having some big news during the summer months, and I anticipate Lucas Arts' back catalog to be at least part of it. Grim Fandango on GOG is the ideal situation, as W7 compatibility would be ensured.

Probably my third or fourth LucasArts game but it's still an unforgettable experience. Also one of the few PC games I still have the actual discs for.
Also, for anyone wanting to play on modern operating systems, check out this program called ResidualVM. http://residualvm.org/ I've successfully played Grim Fandango in Windows 7 (64) with only a single crash. All you do is copy certain files from the discs and put them in a folder, just like with running a game on ScummVM. There's another method of getting it to work but it has never actually worked for me.
