Anarchy Reigns: 8-player Team Battle between the dev team
#1
The dev team battles it out in the just released new video for Anarchy Reigns.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=725ktdM6xDc Edith: From JP's twitter: The goal is to kill the team commander. Classes are assigned based on your individual kills. More from JP's twitter: Classes are re-assigned during the course of the match to top players on team. You can be Squad Leader, Spec Ops, or Medic. Each has buffs.

It lacks the precision you get with shooters and it lacks the character development you get from the mmo genre. It seems like its going to have a fairly small skill gap and id imagine multiplayer will suffer greatly from latency much more than other genres. Getting "stuck" in a combo animation from someone else is entirely unappealing aswell. Ill be buying the game for The solo stuff and co-op if its in but i dont think ill play more than an hour of the multiplayer |

This actually looks kinda fun. The combat seems to have a good fell to it, and hopefully there will be lots of moves and combos.
I really hope that survival/ horde like mode is playable offline as well as I probably won't play this online much. so far the only offline content we know of is a story mode. |

Well getting "stuck" in a combo comes with the territory of any fighting game. Lag will be the real thing to watch out for. Other than that, it looks good in a manic Power Stone sort of way.

No clue how useful that stuff will be in the actual game, but I think the game will reward skill and learning the game over people that just run around and mash canned strings and grabs.(If E3 show floor vids are any indication of how most people will approach this game) Especially in the modes with less players. All this is merely conjecture on my part, but I'd be more worried about someone finding something abusable and broken ruining online than the game not rewarding skill

I take it you don't play fighting games. I'm just assuming, since you find getting caught in combo strings to be unappealing.

It felt like tanks, dps, and healers out there. |

The environment designers and texture artists on this need to be fired. Terrible. Some of the worst I've seen since the PS2 era. Just the same off colour tan, brown or greeny yellow broken cement everywhere. Dragging the whole game back so much.

It's so annoying and entirely unappealing. I don't think that game did very well. |

Spawn: In The Demon's Hand is one of my favorite arcade games ever. Story based with cutscenes, you control either Jack or Leo. |

Man, I want to like this game, I really do... but it just doesn't look very appealing :( It being an online-only game (iirc) is the main reason. Plus, it looks like an artistic mess. The environments don't look very appealing, but hopefully it's just the one in that video.

I believe he means MOBA not MMO? they should probably go the whole hog with that and make it free to play since it does and always has, seemed doomed to poor sales as is

It's a 4v4 brawler with basic class buffs. I'm not sure why people are trying to shoehorn it into genres it doesn't belong to. I can't be the only person who looks at this game and thinks "Man, this is basically post-apocalyptic Spike Out with Smash Bros. items added in." |

The reason the environments are kinda bland and sterile, is because it would be absolutely insane to keep track of 8 brightly colored and flashy characters running around in super extravagant arenas and stuff. Even the Spawn Arcade game kept the arenas low key, so you can easily pick out your targets. It's called game design. |
