Whatcha Been Playin': NeoGAF Rising Edition
#1
![]() Modern Warfare 3 ![]() This week I discovered that Gun Games were added to the community playlist. I've been missing these sense BLOPS. One in the Chamber, All or Nothing, and 18 guns are great additions to the playlist. It's proof that if you ever feel tired of MW3, that changing up the game types is an easy way to breathe new life into the game. ![]() Got me a kill screen! At just under 9 hours, this is the fastest FF game I've ver played. It's also one of the most fun motion controlled games I played, but that isn't saying much. I'll be doing write ups over in the 25th anniversary thread if you want to see more screen shots. ![]() So far for my twitter road to E3, #fromOwn2Pwn, I've finished an iOS game, Wii game, and now I'm working on a DS game. I'm on chapter 4 and people are starting to act extra weird. The puzzles are fun, but some of the 'Ah ha' moments are a little harder to come by than I'd like. Like a phoenix from the ashes, NeoGAF has risen once more from it's PHP woes with one burning question: Whatcha Been Playin'? |

![]() Trophy hunting in Silent Hill 2 HD (PS3). The platinum is a pain and almost undoable for me. ![]() Finishing up the side-quests in Final Fantasy VI (PSN/PS3). Hopefully it'll be the second time I finish this game. So good. |

![]() Dark Souls: Continuing to make my slow progress through this. I'm up to Seath the Scaleless and I think I might have hit a bit of a wall. I'm having some trouble fighting him. My normal magic doesn't seem to be doing the trick and it doesn't seem like a popular area for summons (plus I want the Moonlight Sword). After I figure out how to cure my curse I'll make another bunch of attempts this weekend. |

LA Noire
Not really a fan of the game anymore but I want to finish it before Starhawk, D3, Max Payne 3, and Dragon's Dogma drop next month. It's not too bad if sessions are limited to a case and a bit of exploring. SSF4: AE 2012 Ya, this game always claims at least one of my evenings a week. Motorstorm Apocalypse Very fun game that I'm revisiting to finish off the plat then trade in towards likely Starhawk. |

c/p from Steam backlog thread
![]() I had always meant to start this series, but it's the first game I installed from Steam besides the F2P games on my fresh install of Windows on my laptop. And I'm hooked. My first impressions were "wow @ the jank, fuck this" but I kept playing and something about it just drew me in and made it hard for me to stop playing. The dialogue is awesome - that's probably the most surprising aspect. "Your mother sucks dwarf cock," had me laughing our loud at 2AM. Just completed Chapter 1 last night, and I can easily say this is one of the most immersive games from the get-go. And I keep loving the dialogue. Also love how the choices aren't "right" or "wrong," yet they have actual weight. *cough cough Mass Effect cough*

Ocarina of Time (replay)
I've replayed this quite a bit and was in the mood a few weeks ago. Dead Space 2 I want to see what all the hub-bub is about. Have barely started this one. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations Because...because....because...sometimes spamming brain-dead special moves IS FUN! OKAY! You can't judge me! No one can't judge me! *runs away in tears* |

A Valley Without Wind
![]() Seven hours in, and I'm loving it so far - it's mix of RPG, side scrolling shooter, platformer and city builder works surprisingly well, and although the procedurally generated environments can look a little rough around the edges, I love the overall style and depth of the game. I'm well and truly hooked. |

Mass Effect 2: I think I'm over 2/3 way through. Its good but I can't seem to enjoy it for a long duration, just a mission here and there.
Devil May Cry 4: Finished it and it was good, half of it anyway (the second half was the first half in reverse, literally). Batman Arkam Asylum: Good stuff so far. The combat looks nice but feels very simple so far, they give you forever to counter/parry the opponent. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2: Didn't like the first and ditched it half way through. Up to Chapter 4 and so far and I'm enjoying this one. The delimbing aspect is a nice addition, differentiates it from others in the genre. I don't like being stuck in attack animations though with no way to cancel out, especially when I'm so used to it with God hand, DMC and Bayonetta.

SWTOR - Just finished Chapter 1 with the Sith Mar, and I'm loving the new character quite a bit. Can't romance them given my sex, but that's okay. Just wish I liked the other characters nearly as much.
FF XIII-2 - I still hate this game. Really sucks it turned out this way when I loved XIII. If SE ever make a character like Serah again I may actually stop playing their damn games. SRW Z2.2 - Wing Zero, Nu Gundam and SF are still doing amazing. Sadly OO Raiser is getting hammered toward the end. |

![]() ![]() Lots of The Witcher 2: EE (PC), which I hoped to have finished by now, but I've only just arrived at chapter three. Iorveth's path is pretty incredible, I have to say. But Binary Domain (PC) is out now and that will be my main game this weekend. Gunplay is sooo fucking good. |

Xenoblade - The dungeon I am currently on is a tad bit boring (the High Entia Tomb) but beyond that I'm loving it.
Trials Evolution - Need to play more since I'm not even out of the medium challenges, but it is pretty fun. TERA Online - Really looking forward to the headstart this weekend since I haven't been able to try this out yet. Many thanks to the Gaffer who gave me a head start code. Starcraft II - I'm trying to get back into playing some 1v1 so I'm not totally rusty when the GAF tournament kicks off. |

The Crystal Bearers is really an underrated game. Not great but decent.
Anyway, playing the following. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3) - Got it for my birthday as gift. Which is good since I wanted to practice playing a shooter with just dual analog controller after prefering the Wii remote and mouse/keyboard. Getting pretty good I think. So if the Wii remote's pointer controls are dropped by developers when shooters come out on the Wii U I'll be ready. Finished up the single player, did some survival, and not doing regular multiplayer. Got my monies worth already. Xenoblade - Taking my time with this one but will be putting in some time this weekend. Star Wars: The Old Republic - Subscription is almost up. Don't think I'll finish up the Jedi Sage storyline but at this point I really don't care. I finished up the Nadia conversations so I have some sense of completion with the game. Might be adding some Battlefield 3 (PC) to the list this weekend as I haven't played that in a few weeks. |

Skyrim - I did sink about 50 hours into the PS3 version then hit that wall where it couldn't play so sold it and bought Skyrim on 360, didn't touch it till about 2 weeks ago and am currently going through all the main quest and sidequest (not the trivial bar task like kill this bandit!, the stuff like from thieves guild etc.)
The Witcher 2 - Bought it last week but only put about 4 hours in, really want to finish Skyrim first so i can focus on Witcher 2 before Max Payne 3/Dragons Dogma comes out, i am the type of person that doesn't like to play multiple games at once because i lose track of storylines/quest, combat systems etc. I should have Skyrim done before the weekend is over (main/side quest) then i will hopefully get Witcher 2 done by next friday so i can start Xenoblade and try to finish it before the 15th, if not then Xenoblade will probably be put on the back burner for a couple of months. |

Currently Playing - 04/27/12
I beat Shantae: Risky's Revenge recently. My first real metroidvania that I have beaten. Really fun game but had to use gamefaqs several times due to not knowing where to go... I'm at the last dungeon in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. The first boss in the area almost killed me, so I quickly went back and am planning to spend four hours grinding... Replaying The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, my most played Wii game. At the Arbiter's Grounds. Even tho the graphics and a few other things look dated I am still enjoying the heck out of it. Such a awesome game. By the time I'm done with this playthrough I will have played over 200 hours! Day three in Devil Survivor Overclocked. I have somehow gotten to a point where trying free battle on easy to grind isn't working since its to hard and I keep dying. Yikes! How did I do that...? In world three of my replay of Mario VS DK on my 3DS. Planning on beating this sometime in the next month. Also beat the first world in Go! Go! Kokopolo! its already getting pretty hard... Games I plan to play next: Super Princess Peach

SW The Old Republic: Still working on my Sith Warrior. Pretty cool game but it won't stay long
Witcher 2 PC: Grabbed the enhanced version and loving it again after beating it last year. Really tripped me out though, I have an alienware and the enhanced version makes my lights change color depending on what is going on. Thought it was a problem or a fluke but it is actually a feature added in. |

Just discovered Tribes: Ascend thanks to Gaf. It's got that "just one more" feeling for sure.
Whenever I'm watching tv by myself, I'm rocking Hot Shots Golf on my Vita. I recently got a hankering to get back into Starcraft II (the new Google page made it worse). Haven't beaten the singleplayer yet, and I want to do that before I even try multiplayer. Been fooling around with Rome: Total War as well. So great. |
