I've been interested in doing something like this. It's got to be really expensive though, right?

Think about the parent for a moment - everyone is looking and giving an evil stare, no-one is accommodating. There's just hate.

And everyone else can block their ears, or something, and at the very least, everyone else can leave the screaming baby when the flight ends.
It's about the numbers of it, though. One parent is suffering, but he's affecting 30 people around him. It's a bit unfair.

My wife is pregnant, and I'm sure we'll be taking a crying baby somewhere, but I will know I'm in the wrong and being selfish and I'll just have to bear the evil stares. :)

What's unfair? How is the baby supposed to get where they need to be? I figure the people who have a problem with it are assholes anyway, so they don't count in the scheme of things. They can always get out and walk.
It's OK by me to have a crying baby on a plane. Part of life, may not be enjoyable but we have to share. If it annoys me too bad, I use my MP3 player with the earplugs.

I plan on taking ear plugs or sound-proof headphones with me if I ever have a long flight again. Crying babies on planes are the worst.

So how do you know ahead of time the baby is going to cry? And what should the parents do? Not go?
Life is not for your convenience only. Time to grow up and accept that life is not always fair. Get some earplugs. Take some Benadryl. Get an extra drink.

Which part of my post leads you to believe that I haven't accepted it? I've been a single guy on flights, kept awake and on edge by a crying baby and I'll soon be a parent with a crying baby annoying other people. I will accept it then as well. It's unfair that I'll be selfishly transporting my spawn just so their grandparents can pinch their cheeks, but that's life. I apologize in advance.

Only costs me $240 to drive 1846 miles in a 9 year old Camry, which is the total distance for a round trip to my hometown, according to that site. That trip cost me just under $200 a few months ago when I drove it. Flying is a waste of money for a lot of longer trips now. It's especially true if you have a family.

My dad confirmed that he started development for an android version recently. So you can expect that to happen.

Leaving for Florida tomorrow from Buffalo for me and my wife on Southwest, airfare is like $575...I consider that a steal.

Have you lived in the U.S. any time in the last 30 years?

If so, then you should be well accustomed to living under tyranny from the minority. And by minority, I'm not talking about racial minorities, I'm talking about any one person, or small group of people who decide they don't like something and try to change something that has been normally and readily accepted by the majority of people, and that the majority has become accustomed to, for a certain length of time.

Id say take a Greyhound but you got your family and it will most likely cost the same as an airlines ticket.

I used to rage at crying babies but I put myself in the parents shoes and now I don't really get mad anymore. It sucks if you're trying to read or something but I feel worse for the parents for sure.

However I'm still going to rage if there is a crying baby in a movie theater. Don't bring your baby to the theater ever ever EVER. It should not be allowed.

Everything is waaaaay too spread out. I wish it was feasible but it would cost an incredible amount of money to get a real upgraded fast cross country train.
